You SAY you WANT a REVOLUTION?
Saturday, February 21st, 2009Another week, another disappointing stock market. But, cheer up! I think some long overdue change is on it’s way. And remember, there’s more to life than just money. To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, “This too, shall pass.”
We don’t have to look too far to see the signs of outrageous greed that ran rampant during the last stock market bull cycle. Here are just some of the highlights from the last week of media reports that exhibit the excessive greediness of corporate executives:
-
The Trustee in the Bernard Madoff bankruptcy case reported that the financier hadn’t bought any securities for the past 13 years!
-
The SEC filed fraud charges against Texas billionaire Allen Stanford and two other executives of Stanford Group of selling $8 billion in high-yield certificates of deposit with impossibly high interest rates in a worldwide scheme.
-
GM CEO Rick Wagoner was quoted at a press conference stating: “We have to restructure…so we can be viable at a sales level that is dramatically lower than what we ever anticipated.” Huh? You mean GM Executives never considered what would happen if oil prices increased from historically low levels and what impact that would have on their dominant market share position and sales of gas guzzling SUV’s and trucks? Were they too busy working on their golf game to bother with such small details?
-
Speaking of General Motors, GM and Chrysler told the U.S. Congress that they could need $21.6 billion more in aid to keep them going. GM said it could need $100 billion in financing if it filed for bankruptcy, and CEO Rick Wagner said bankruptcy would be “risky” and would only be used as a last resort. I wonder what Wagner really means when he says that a GM bankruptcy would be “risky”? Risky for him, personally, and his future salary and earnings prospect perhaps?
-
UBS agreed to pay $780 million and identify some American clients with undeclared bank accounts, to settle a tax case and avert criminal charges. But Switzerland’s finance minister vowed that the country’s bank secrecy would be maintained.
But, as Bob Dylan would say, “The times, they are a changing.” Yes, the Federal Goverment is throwing an awful lot of money at our financial markets to try and stop the decline in our financial markets and restore some resembelance of confidence again. As inflationary as the long-term effects of this loose money policy will be, they really don’t have a choice if they have any hope of preventing the global economy from falling into a long, deep and severe depression.
Critics of President Obama’s new housing rescue plan say they don’t want to pay for their neighbor’s mortgage in the form of higher taxes. Well, I don’t think anyone is happy about paying higher taxes, but what choice do we really have? The economy is messed up, big time. We can’t blame President Obama for this because things were already messed up by the time he was elected into office. He could complain about the crappy job that he inherited from the outgoing administration, but he’s not. He’s doing everything that he can to try and stop the bleeding and prevent any further damage from occuring.
Now, to get back to the headline of this long-winded blog post, It was clear from the November 2008 U.S. Presidential results that Americans wanted change. Not just a little tweak, but a major change. Well, change IS coming. It has to, or else we are all dead. Not just the US economy, but the global economy. How can you imagine that a person as insane as Adolph Hitler became so powerful? Germany was weak from the last major recession and people were starving and desperate for change. These people were so desperate that they decided that while Hitler had some radical ideas, nothing else had worked so far. They HAD to DO SOMETHING! So they put this guy named Hitler with some crazy ideas into power to see if that might fix things. And the rest is history, as they say.
Please don’t misunderstand and think that I’m comparing President Obama to Adolph Hitler, because that is NOT WHAT I’M DOING. American’s are smart enough to learn from the past mistakes of others and I think Obama is exactly what America needs right now to get us out of this financial mess without creating more problems down the road.
Just to be safe, you might want to pick up a C2 TASER in case their’s an uprising in your neigborhood…

The Differences between Taser and Stun Guns
Thursday, February 19th, 2009Did you know that there is actually a difference between taser guns and stun guns? Many people don’t know the differences and it is assumed that they are both the same thing. However, while they may both give out electric shocks, there are some differences that you should be aware of. Knowing these differences will help you to choose the best self defense product to suit your needs.

Stun Guns and Taser Guns - The Differences
There are a few differences between stun guns and taser guns that you should be aware of before you choose either of them. They can potentially make a big difference into how safe you are while you are using the products and so it is important to understand the differences and how they affect you.
Taser guns are typically more high tech than stun guns. They work when you are up to fifteen feet away from your attacker. Two probes are sent from the taser gun to the attacker and they become stuck while they emit a seven second initial shock. They require both probes to be attached to the attacker before they will work properly. A stun gun on the other hand needs close contact before it will be effective. It does not have probes but it has a very loud sound that often frightens attackers off before they have had a chance to hurt you.
Taser guns will temporarily paralyze your attacker. They will likely fall down to the ground and they will lose control over their limbs for a short period of time. A stun gun is merely there to give a short shock. It will not paralyze the attacker as long as a taser gun would and it is not as powerful usually as a taser gun either. However, that does not mean to say that a stun gun is not as effective as a taser gun - it can be and it costs a lot less than a taser gun too.
Taser guns can be expensive because they are so effective. They are also bigger than stun guns too. With stun guns you can purchase ones which are designed to fool the attacker. Cell phone stun guns and keychain stun guns are particular popular as they are easy to carry around and they are not obvious like taser guns can be. They would be ideal for anybody who does not want to look like they have a self defense weapon.
Typically taser guns are more effective but stun guns can also be extremely effective too. The noise of the stun gun tends to be enough to scare away many attackers. Then the short shock that is given also causes attackers to think twice about staying and continuing the attack. This is especially the case with cell phone stun guns as the attacker does not expect anything and the shock usually causes them to run away. However some attackers may not be put off by s short shock and that is where taser guns come in. They paralyze the attacker so that they do not have a chance to continue the attack and that leaves you with plenty of time to escape.
Overall both taser guns and stun guns are effective and both can protect you against an attack. However, you should always understand the differences between the two; especially the distances required for them to be effective!
Stun Guns Safer for Everyone
Saturday, November 8th, 2008More and more people are turning to non-lethal tools and weapons to protect themselves from attackers.
In the past, only the police or military were able to obtain some of these weapons, including stun guns and tasers. However, these weapons have become available to the public, as well, and they are being used by law enforcement and private citizens as well.
The story below just took place in Texas. It is a true story and definitely saved one life, possibly more.
More Law Officers Rely on Less-Lethal Weapons
Saturday, November 08, 2008
A man trespassing in a vacant apartment in January pulled a knife and lunged at a Longview police officer trying to identify him.
Without hesitation, a back-up officer fired her stun gun at the attacker, delivering a debilitating electric jolt.
Her quick action most likely prevented a serious injury to either the officer or the suspect, and it might have even saved a life, police spokesman Kevin Brownlee said.
The so-called “less-lethal weapons” - ranging from empty hands and pepper spray to stun guns and expandable batons - give officers a safer way of debilitating dangerous or threatening suspects, law enforcement officials say.
If you are looking for a way to protect yourself, a taser or stun gun is an effective, affordable and non-lethal choice.
No Civilian Tasers in New Zealand
Thursday, October 9th, 2008Tasers have become quite well-known and quite available in the United States. It was just a few years ago when we heard about them but had a hard time finding them. If you looked really hard, you could find them in special law enforcement catalogues and such.
These days, tasers are available to the public and are legal in 43 states. Many women are getting the pocket sized C2 Taser that will fit in their purse, for protection, and they feel safer because they have a reliable self-defense tool.
One of the new events surrounding tasers is a remake of the old Tupperware parties. Instead of Tupperware, women are having Taser parties and buying tasers for protection. Men are buying them for themselves and also buying them as gifts for their wives and girlfriends.
In the U.S., regardless of our problems, there are options. People can choose what type of protection they use and they can carry it without penalty as long as it is registered and used correctly.
Other countries do not have that luxury. For instance, in New Zealand, the police have just recently started using tasers and it is illegal for a private citizen to carry any type of taser. Inspector Joe Green the police national manager of firearms licensing and vetting has stated, “They are restricted weapons. If we found you on the street with one, we would arrest you for the unlawful possession of a restricted weapon.”
So, no matter what problems there are to deal with here in the U.S., there is still the freedom to bear arms and to choose what type of arms you wish to use. Being able to choose the non-lethal Taser rather than a lethal weapon is important. If you are looking for a non-lethal weapon that will stop an attacker in their tracks, check into a C2 Taser or other type of taser and choose to protect yourself your way.
Taser C-2 - the Most Effective Way to Defend Yourself
Sunday, October 5th, 2008Taser C-2 is a safety device used by women to protect themselves from danger. They are available in various models and different colors like black, blue, silver and pink and are battery operated. The Taser C-2 has a very good track record in terms of effectiveness and you can always depend on this device to save you in time of danger. The device operates through the application of a new technology. The technology combines the advantages of stun technology, which traditionally reduces the injury along with quantum leap in ceasing the power through the new Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) technology. According to a study revealed by the police the Taser C-2 device has a great ability to reduce the strength of the opponent. There have been several cases in which the Taser C-2 has functioned effectively for the user.

The Taser C-2 works even better than a 9 mm hand gun as revealed by the police study. The Taser C-2 device is capable of shooting 2 darts that are attached to 15 feet of wire. The darts travel at a lightning speed that is around 50,000 volts through the wires, which is enough to capture the nervous system of the opponent and track him down. It affects the central nervous system generating enormous power, which finally ceases the problem creator. The Taser C-2 device needs to be registered before it is activated for your use. A set of instruction is available with the Taser C-2 device, which will guide you through the operation. It is mandatory that you go through the instructions before you start operating the safety device.

The Taser C-2 is very useful and has been voted as one of the best safety measures that can be used by women. The device enables you to keep a safe distance from the attacker while you are countering his attack. The device can stop an attacker 4.5 meters ahead of you. Not only this, the Taser C-2 also has a back up capability of doubling up as a stun gun if you are countering a close attack. The stun gun included in this device is so powerful that it can ward off the danger even from a close range. This is one of the primary reasons behind the popularity of the Taser C-2 device around the world. It is portable, effective and user friendly.

The Taser C- 2 self-defensive weapon can be targeted anywhere on the body since it is not confined to a single area of one’s body as a target unlike the other conventional weapons. This aspect of Taser C-2 makes it even more usable because you can use it easily under a stressful condition where you do not have to set the target. The Taser C-2 has been used by the law enforcement department and is recommended by the police many countries of the world. The Taser C-2 is the only non-lethal device using the Taser technology ceasing the enemy skillfully.
People above 18 years of age can acquire the Taser C-2 device. However, every buyer has to confirm a background check before he or she obtains the permission to purchase the device. The Taser C-2 delivers a 30 second energy burst, which helps you to escape while the device is still functioning. In this way however, you have to leave the device behind with the attacker.
Therefore, buy a Taser C-2 , the most effective and user-friendly device now for protecting yourself from unwanted evils.

Police Use Taser to Catch Rapist
Sunday, September 28th, 2008Tasers are being used by law enforcement as well as private citizens instead of guns these days. They aren’t used by everyone, but citizens and police have seen how much safer tasers are in subduing an intruder or attacker than using a gun with bullets in it. Guns can all too often be fatal, or at least lead to serious injuries, whereas, tasers are rarely fatal and usually don’t lead to injuries, but they are extremely effective.
The following is a story from the Sun Sentinel in Broward County, Florida regarding the use of a taser to catch a dangerous suspect who was wanted by the police in other states.
DAVIE - Police used a Taser gun on a suspected rapist when he resisted arrest this morning, a police spokesman said.
The incident occurred about 10 a.m., at a gas station in the 3600 block of Davie Road, spokesman Lt. Wayne Boulier said.
Police officers, working with the FBI, received word that suspect Carlos Colon, 37 — wanted on a sexual battery warrant in New York — was in the area.
Colon, of Davie, ran when they tried to arrest him, so they shot him with a Taser, Boulier said.
South Florida Crime & Safety Paramedics took Colon to a hospital to be examined, a routine procedure any time someone is shot with a stun gun, Boulier said.
Colon was to be taken to the county jail once he’s cleared.
Authorities in Syracuse, N.Y., issued the arrest warrant for multiple counts of sexual battery, Boulier said.
Had this taken place with a gun instead of a taser, one can imagine the injuries and other complications. Instead, the man was captured and taken into custody.
The taser can work for private citizens as well and there are many types available. If you are looking for effective, affordable, reliable protection, look at our selection of tasers to see which one is best for you.
Compare Tasers and Stun Guns Before You Buy
Friday, September 26th, 2008We are hearing about the use of tasers and stun guns by the police and private citizens more and more lately. When used properly they can catch the bad guys and help innocent people stay safe.
Many police and sheriff departments are using tasers instead of guns whenever possible, to avoid fatalities. Along with the tasers or stun guns, the officers receive specific training as to how to use their weapons as safely as possible while still being effective at apprehending lawbreakers.
It is important for private citizens to learn how to use tasers and stun guns appropriately, as well. If you purchase one of these self defense weapons, it is essential for you to remember that tasers and stun guns are WEAPONS and are serious. Even though they are designed to avoid fatalities, there can be complications if they are not used properly.
There are various types, sizes and voltages involved with tasers and stun guns, depending upon your needs. There are also disguises for them, such as the Cell Phone Stun Gun, which works exactly like any other stun gun and sends a powerful jolt through an intruder or attacker, yet looks like a cell phone, so the attacker would never realize they are about to be shocked and stopped in their tracks, leaving you a safe way to escape.
Check this site for a variety of stun guns, tasers and information regarding their use and the laws involving them. It is important to get the best weapon possible for the best price, and you can do that here. Before purchasing a stun gun or taser look carefully at the information and see which one is best for you. Find an affordable, high quality, effective taser or stun gun to keep you and your family safe.
Tasers, Tasers and More Tasers
Thursday, September 18th, 2008If you are wondering whether or not tasers are effective self defense weapons, all you need to do is look at the news or the internet. In looking at the headlines and articles listed on Google alone, there are pages and pages of examples of taser use.
Most police departments and other law enforcement agencies are using tasers in lieu of guns wherever possible. Private citizens are using tasers to protect themselves as well.
In reading the articles posted on the net today, at least 9 or 10 of them were about police using tasers to subdue and/or arrest burglars, armed robbers, drug dealers, escaped convicts and individuals with warrants. Most of these individuals were being aggressive to the police or were running from the police and were stopped and then arrested because the taser disoriented them enough so that they could not keep running from or attacking the police.
The positive thing about tasers is that they deliver enough voltage to override the person’s ability to escape, but they are non-lethal. Instead of injuring the bad guys and landing them in the hospital or killing them, the police were able to stop them, avoiding hospital stays or a funeral. In addition, the individuals who were captured can now go to court and be held responsible for their crimes.
So, if you are wondering if tasers work, they do. They will protect you, even in the most serious situations. There are various tasers available. Take the time to explore them and find the one that is right for you.
Tasers Will Be Used Extensively By Officers in the UK
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008Reprinted from Times Online UK News
Taser adds shock and awe to every bobby’s arsenal
All frontline officers are to be given access to 50,000-volt stun guns. FRONTLINE police officers across the country are to go on patrol armed with the controversial Taser stun gun under plans to be announced by ministers later this year.
A stockpile of the weapons, which fire a 50,000-volt charge, will be kept at each police station so that patrolling officers can use them if required, Whitehall officials said.
They will be used to confront and disable suspects who threaten violence, whether suspected suicide bombers or aggressive drunken yobs.
Jacqui Smith, the home secretary, believes using Tasers on thugs and violent criminals will help to protect officers from injury. She also believes the stun guns will save resources, because in future fewer officers will need to be deployed to deal with individual incidents.
This weekend, she said: “Taser is making a real difference on our streets, not only keeping the public safe but also protecting our police officers. I am committed to giving our police the weapons they need to get crime off our streets.”
Although details have not been finalised, the stun guns are expected to be made available to each of the 43 police forces in England and Wales by the end of the year, officials say.
The move has met opposition from civil liberties groups, which say they should be used by only specialist firearms officers in limited circumstances.
The Taser is a hand-held electrical device resembling a pistol that is designed to incapacitate temporarily rather than injure. The latest version – the X26 – has a range of 21ft. It fires a pair of barbs on copper wires that embed themselves in the flesh and send out an electrical current of 50,000 volts. The shock can cause temporary loss of muscle control, making a person fall to the ground or “freeze” on the spot.
Police officers believe it is a valuable alternative to hitting people with a baton or the extreme measure of shooting them. In many cases, it enables just one or two officers to restrain and handcuff a suspect without the risk of injury.
Tasers were first issued to trained firearms officers in 2003 after a number of fatal police shootings. Since then they have been drawn 2,700 times but fired only 834 times. In most cases merely drawing the gun and aiming its red target dot on a suspect’s body acted as a sufficient deterrent.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show Tasers have been used in a range of cases, from a suspect brandishing a samurai sword in Norfolk to a man who tried to strangle a police dog in Kent.
Smith has been impressed by pilot schemes in 10 forces that allow regular officers to fire them. Officially the Home Office said it was awaiting the evaluation of the trials, which ended two weeks ago. Her plans are backed by the Police Federation, which represents all 140,000 rank and file officers in England and Wales
Emus on the Turnpike or a Little Foul Play
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008
The Daily American News reported that State police used a Taser on an emu after it ran wild across the Pennsylvania Turnpike for nearly two hours Monday. The emu, which is a large flightless bird, died.
Turnpike police were notified about the bird roaming near the 72.4 mile marker in Westmoreland County at 11:36 a.m. Five troopers from the New Stanton station and turnpike maintenance workers responded to the incident, said Lt. James McFadden.
“At one point we had an eastbound traffic backlog and then it went over the barrier,” he said. “We were trying to control the backlog to prevent any crashes.”
Unfortunately the Emu died while the officers were trying to subdue it and save human lives. It seems the bird may have escaped from a truck while in transport.
No humans or officers were injured.
Handguns or Stunguns?
Friday, August 15th, 2008
I just heard on the news this evening that some small town in Texas has just approved a city ordinance that allows teachers to carry guns in school! The proponents of the new law said it was just “common sense” that teachers should be armed in schools.
Does anybody else think this is a bad idea? I understand that it makes sense to have some security personnel present in the school in case some crazy kid comes in and starts shooting up the place, but I don’t see the need for teachers to carry a gun.
This sounds like an accident just waiting to happen. What if some elementary kid brought a toy water gun into the school and a teacher mistook it for a real gun, reacted quickly, and shot the kid?
I just don’t think it makes any sense for teachers to carry a lethal weapon in the school. A stun gun or a Taser? Now that makes sense. At least a mace pepper gun that can shoot pepper spray for 25 feet.
With these non-lethal self defense weapons, you can still bring a dangerous situation under control without seriously wounding or killing the people involved. I’m not some liberal that doesn’t believe in violence, I just think it’s common sense to carry a non-lethal weapon over a lethal weapon.
Sure, some people will comment that stun guns can kill people. Yes, there have been some limited, isolated incidents where a victim that has been shocked with a Taser or stun gun has died. Most often, it seems, these victims were high on meth or some other drug that could have also contributed to the death, or at least in combination with a Taser or stun gun.
The media is overly focused on reporting these limited and isolated accidental deaths from Taser or stun gun use and don’t report anything involving those situations where these devices are used exactly how they are supposed to be and some criminal is apprehended using a Taser? Situations where the police where able to gain control of an out of control scenario by using a stun gun without using lethal force.
I just think it makes a lot more sense to have teachers carrying stun guns, Tasers, or pepper sprays before we need to start supplying our teachers with handguns.

Tasers Can Stop Crime in its Tracks
Sunday, July 27th, 2008When you watch TV, it seems that the news is as dramatic as the most action films. In fact, in the past few days I have seen videos of several attacks on people in various cities bothe in the United States and abroad.
With crime at an all-time high, protection is on the minds of most people. A big part of the protection issue for many people is that they want a form of protection that will subdue would be attackers without killing them. People are looking for alternatives to a gun. One of the best alternatives to guns and other weapons is the Taser.
Tasers basically deliver thousands of volts of power to an attacker. This overrides the central nervous system debilitating the attacker. The attacker is incapacitated long enough for the victim to get away and get help.
In addition to providing protection for individuals by stopping an attacker, tasers leave behind Anti-Felon Identification Tags that are dispersed once the taser discharges its cartridges. This helps the police determine the owner of the Taser and helps keep it from falling into the wrong hands. Background checks and registration are required with purchase of tasers, ensuring them from being purchased by individuals on either felony watch or terrorist watch lists.
Tasers, also known as Taser Guns are a good alternative to guns that shoot bullets and can be fatal. Most local police or other law enforcement departments provide free training in conjunction with taser companies.
To stop crime in its tracks, a taser is one of the best tools you can have.
Tasers Catch A Break in the Big Apple
Tuesday, June 10th, 2008
I admit it is hard to find good news about tasers but if you seek you shall find and I have! Finally a police force has recognized that guns may not be the best answer and they certainly are not the only answer!
The New York Times reported the following story written by Al Baker:
Police recruits and veteran officers could benefit from more frequent firearms training and a wider use of Taser stun guns, according to a study of the New York Police Department’s shooting habits released on Monday.
The study, by the RAND Corporation, was commissioned in January 2007, about seven weeks after a Queens man, Sean Bell, died in a hail of 50 police bullets. Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly said at the time that questions about the department’s effectiveness and training required an independent review.
RAND researchers raised the phenomenon of “reflexive shooting,” or contagious shooting, in which one officer’s gunshots spur a fusillade of bullets by others in the area.
Though they could not say whether the phenomenon occurred more often than in the past, they recommended that the department add “reflexive shooting scenarios that include a stimulus or the sound of gunfire, to sensitize officers to cues that may not be reliable, and to teach them that such cues may generate unwanted responses.”
In addition to training, the RAND group studied how the department conducts internal reviews of police shootings.
It studied 455 shootings that were adjudicated in 2004, 2005 and 2006 by the department’s Firearms Discharge Review Board. The study found that while the board had “exemplary procedures,” and a record of producing quick and fact-filled reports with an eye toward the legalities of those shootings, it could benefit from more analysis of the tactics used so that lessons could be learned.
In 25 of the 455 shootings, the RAND group found that officers might have been able to end confrontations more quickly by using a less lethal device — like a Taser, which uses jolts of electricity to disable an assailant — before those encounters escalated to a point where more deadly force was necessary. The police killed someone in 3 of the 25 cases.
The authors of the 114-page study suggested the department carry out a pilot program in selected precincts to expand the availability of Taser guns with a goal of decreasing civilian or officer casualties.
At a news conference to outline the findings, Mr. Kelly strongly suggested that he would embrace the recommendation for a pilot program for the Taser devices, though he said he still had to distribute the report, and its “well over a hundred recommendations,” to those in his senior command.
This is of course only a pilot program and may not be final but it is a great start!
Self-Defense: Don’t be an Easy Target
Monday, May 19th, 2008

It is important for everyone to learn self-defense. You never know when you could become a target. It really doesn’t matter who you are or how big you are. If predators want something from you, they will stop at nothing to get it, unless you surprise them and fight back. Most criminals don’t want any conflict. If you make it hard on them, they may decide it isn’t worth it and leave you alone.
So, what self-defense tips can you put to good use? These suggestions will give you an opportunity to escape.
* Use your thumbs: If you have access to the hands of an attacker, use your thumbs to press down as hard as you can on the fingernails just above the nail bed. Surprisingly, this really hurts. Your attacker will be shocked and in pain and will quickly pull away. This should give you an escape opportunity.
* Hit hard at the bridge of the nose: If you get the opportunity, drive the heel of your palm right into the bridge of your attacker’s nose. A hard enough hit can be fatal. Either way, the blinding pain will cause your assailant to take a step back to recover from the hit. Take advantage of the distraction and run. Yell “fire!” as you run to attract attention. People generally respond and pay more attention when someone yells “fire” instead of “help.”
* Push into a bite: A vicious attacker may bite you. Avoid your instinct to pull away. Instead, push the limb being bitten into the face of your attacker. Cover as much of your attacker’s nose and mouth as possible. The result will be smothering unless the bite is released.
* Knee or kick the groin: It doesn’t matter how strong or large your attacker is. If you get a chance, deliver a strong shot to the groin. Your assailant will instantly double over in agony and allow you a good opportunity to run away. Don’t assume this will only work for a male attacker either. Anyone who is hit hard in that area will be in excruciating pain long enough for you to start running.
Now you have some good techniques that will allow you time to get away. What else can you do to help your situation? Here are some suggestions that most people don’t think of when they are panicked:
* Yell fire: For most people, when trapped in a helpless situation, the instinct is to yell for help. The best way to attract attention and gain help is actually to yell “Fire!” It is a proven fact that the majority of people, especially in densely populated cities, ignore calls for help. People just don’t want to get involved. Yelling “fire” will attract more attention and get you the help you need. If nothing else, someone will call the fire department and the sirens will scare your attacker away. If you are told not to yell or scream, do it anyway. Most attackers will run rather than chance attention drawn to them. They don’t want witnesses.
* Anything can be a weapon: Be creative in your self defense. Smokers can burn the assailant with a lit cigarette, cigar or pipe. Keep your keys handy. A key between your index and middle fingers with the jagged side facing down is a great weapon for stabbing, gouging or scraping. Boots and heels can do a lot of bodily damage with a bit of force behind them. Drinks can temporarily blind someone. Heavy objects like, purses, bags of groceries, briefcases or laptops can knock an attacker off balance briefly.
* Become a moving target: If you do get away, run. If possible, weave as you are running. It is hard for an attacker to hit a moving target, especially when it isn’t going in a straight line.
We would all like to think that it will never happen to us. Odds are, if not you then someone you love will become the victim of an attacker. Everyone needs to learn basic self-defense and encourage others to do so as well.
Stay Safe,
Steve Lane

Taser gets to be a hero…for a change.
Saturday, May 17th, 2008

A sheriff’s deputy in St. Croix County, WI used his Taser to subdue a runaway pony named Suzey as she got dangerously close to busy traffic last week, according to an article written by Rhonda Fukushima and was published in the Pioneer Press this week.
Around 6:30 PM on Wednesday, the deputy was called to help capture Suzey, a 3-year-old miniature pony running free near Red Brick Road and Coulee Road in the town of Troy just outside Hudson, according to Sheriff Dennis Hillstead. For two hours, the pony’s owner, Susan Holt, and her daughters had tried to bribe Suzey to come back, to no avail. True to form, Suzey was very spirited and stubborn.
“We were out there trying to lure her with oats, horse treats and apples,” Holt said. “She was not going to listen to us.”
Holt became increasingly worried Suzey would get onto Coulee Road, which is especially busy during rush hour. She would have had Suzey put down to avoid causing an accident, but only as a last resort, Sheriff Hillstead said. The deputy said he could try his Taser on Suzey, with Holt’s permission.
A Taser is a nonlethal weapon that uses electrical pulses to incapacitate the central nervous system of a living being, said Sgt. Joshua Lego, a master Taser instructor with the St. Paul Police Department. It has been used on dogs, moose and cattle.
Feeling like she was running out of options, Holt reluctantly told the deputy to go ahead. “I said, ‘If you think it will work, we have to do something,’ ” Holt said. “She was bucking. She wasn’t going to let us have anything to do with her.”
The Taser prongs struck the 200-pound pony in the shoulder and haunches. Suzey fell down on her side, and Holt was able to hook a lead rope on her.
Suzey got back up, the deputy pulled out the Taser prongs and Holt led her back to her pen.
This was a first for the St. Croix sheriff’s office. “I’m sure the officer really didn’t want to destroy a horse,” Sheriff Hillstead said. “He used good common sense. It never hurts to try something.”
Holt said Suzey is no worse for wear. Holt and her husband still want her to graze in the yard. Tonight, though, it’s his turn to watch Suzey.
I think it’s refreshing to hear a POSITIVE story about Taser use for a change.
It seems like all we ever hear are negative news stories about what happens when Taser use goes wrong, such as the occasional death of a person after they were tasered. Of course, we don’t know whether that person died because of the Taser or because they were on drugs and they died because of the drug useage.
Most reasonable, sober people don’t need to be tasered because they are acting rational. It is only when people are posing a danger to themselves and others that Tasers need to be use. I think it’s fair to say that many of these people that need to be tasered are on drugs, which is why they need to be tasered in the first place.

Non-Lethal Self Defense: Consider the Consequences of Defense
Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008You are prepared to defend yourself, your family and those you love. So in a situation where any of those things are threatened, you’re prepared to do anything, right? Unfortunately, what happens after the event is over must also be considered.
In the midst of defending yourself, you don’t think hard about what the legal ramifications of self-defense might be. Fear and protective instincts put safety and survival as the first priority. When people attack you, they aren’t concerned about your life. Why be concerned about theirs? Because the simple fact of our society is that sometimes the justice system fails to deliver justice at all.
From the legal standpoint, lethal self-defense can be considered excessive force, even if your life was at stake. There is also the issue of what you are willing to live with morally after the fact. Protect your future while you protect yourself, and choose methods of non-lethal self-defense.
First and foremost, as you’ve heard many times before, the best self-defense is to avoid the situation altogether. Always pay attention, walk with purpose, and chose well-traveled areas. Keep trustworthy company. Don’t be a victim by putting yourself at risk. Moving on from that, if something does happen, make sure you are prepared.
Another reason, besides the legal ramifications, to chose non-lethal self-defense is accidents. When we react in fear, sometimes we may take actions that aren’t completely thought through. You may think someone is breaking into your home, but it could be a family member arriving home late. A loved one can recover from injuries, but a fatal gunshot is forever.
There are a variety of different non-lethal self defense weapons available for purchase, ranging from very mild to extremely powerful. Most options are fairly inexpensive and portable, and most of them easily concealed. They are completely legal and much safer than carrying a firearm.
Pepper spray has been around for many years and is still a popular choice because it is small, discrete and easy to carry in a purse. When sprayed in the eyes of an attacker, it temporarily blinds by causing trigger reactions. The eyes automatically close and begin to water. Other effects are runny nose and coughing. The full effect can be felt for up to 45 minutes, giving you time to escape. Take caution with pepper spray, though. Keep an eye on expiration dates and leaking, and make sure never to spray upwind.

Personal alarms create a loud noise that can discourage attackers and draw attention to you. These are the most useful if you are somewhere that others can come to your aid. Remember to be realistic and have another option if no one hears your alarm. Don’t depend on others to rush to your aid. Everyone loves a hero, but nobody like to put themselves in danger.

Stun guns are also a popular option for non-lethal self defense. These electroshock weapons temporarily disable your attacker through the use of electric shock. A variety of jolt levels are available, from a fairly low charge in smaller flashlight-sized stun guns up to 300,000 volts or more. They administer the electric shock through direct contact. Some stun guns come disguised as cell phones, pens or flashlights.

Tasers are also electroshock weapons. Media scrutiny has recently surrounded tasers after several high-profile incidents with law enforcement. While these officers may have used excessive force in those situations, when defending yourself against attack, that matters little. Tasers deliver a shock from a distance of several meters to subdue and temporarily disable your attacker. The shock is more powerful than a stun gun and does not require direct contact. Make sure you practice using your taser before you are in a negative situation. This goes with all self-defense weapons. You don’t want to waste any time when you need to protect yourself.

Don’t forget the practical options. Having a small and portable but heavy-duty flashlight allows you to see in the dark and makes a useful blunt object. A good crack on the head is an old-fashioned defense. Another is your cell phone. One of the best non-lethal defense weapons available is a call for help.
Stay Safe,

Defending yourself with personal security devices
Friday, April 11th, 2008The world is becoming an unsafe place for both men and women around the world. Every day on the news you hear stories of women being attacked and robbed. However, in some cases, it gets more tragic because the thieves get desperate and may kill the person. Women especially are targets because the intruder feels that women are easy to rob and so they become more vulnerable. I think women are become sick and tired of being targets and are taking control of their own safety and protection.
Women are even going a step further by taking self defense classes to be prepared to defend themselves in the event that they come across any unsafe situations. Being equipped with personal security devices is also another way that women are safeguarding themselves from attackers and intruders.
Women have different types of personal security devices to choose from as a precaution. Pepper sprays, stun guns, maces, and other safety devices are some of the few we will mention here. Pepper Spray, I think, was the first one that became popular among women. It is easy to carry and is packaged in a compact and small aerosol can. It fits securely in a woman’s purse and on a key chain. These days they are even making pepper sprays in the form of a lipstick. The thief will not know what hit him or her because a woman can take out her lipstick without the attacker being suspicious.
When the Pepper Spray is held toward the attacker and pressed to directly affect the eyes, it will stop the attacker in his or her tracks and disable the attacker. The canine pepper spray emits ten one second bursts and this is for individuals who are attacked by dogs. The bear pepper spray was created for a bear attack. The pepper spray only causes short term pain and is not detrimental to the attacker in the long run. It is just a temporary tool to give the woman a chance to escape quickly. The woman should first learn to use this pepper spray and not wait until she is attacked to fumble with it.
Stun Guns are small devices that are hand held. It is used by many law enforcement officers. It emits soaring voltage electric shock when it is used on an individual for up to five seconds. Once the individual is shocked with this elevated voltage, he or she becomes disoriented and will fall. Stun Guns cannot cause long term harm. The person will recuperate in up to ten minutes. This gives the woman enough time to escape.
Cell Phone Stun Gun is one of the newest personal security devices on the market. It carries up to 800,000 voltages. Its unique feature gives the woman a tactical advantage. The intruder or attacker won’t know what hit them because the cell phone is not an obvious self defense tool. It is easy to surprise the attacker with a cell phone. The purpose for this device is to give the victim enough time to get away. It is not to intentionally harm since these tools are nonlethal weapons.
It also has an alarm and a flashlight installed as well as an anti-theft disabling wrist strap.
Women can rest assured that they can now stop being victims and protect themselves with personal security devices that work. For more information, please to go http://www.laneselfdefense.com/cellphonestungun.htm
Self defense protection
Wednesday, March 19th, 2008It is apparent that society has gotten more violent and that individuals feel that their safety is being threatened by the many incidents of crime reported each day in the media. If you want to secure your own safety, which is highly recommended, you have to take the appropriate self defense protection methods, techniques and use the right products to build up peace of mind. You don’t want to feel powerless when you are attacked. Instead, you want to be equipped when you are dangerously challenged. You do have the option to carry a firearm, but you could endanger yourself much more doing that. There are safer alternatives to safety and that is using self defense weapons.
Now let’s discuss some of the different self defense products available for your protection and safety.
Stun guns
Stun gun has become very popular among the different types of self defense products. If your assailant has gotten too close to you and you cannot run, a stun gun is the best weapon to use. It is also used by law enforcement to take down their suspects. This is an electrical device that utilizes a high voltage and will stop your attacker in his or her tracks. It will disable them and put them to the ground. There are some stun guns that can be used without touching the assailant. From a few feet, you have an advantage against the person who is attacking you. The amps are low, so there will be no serious damage inflicted against your attacker when hit with the stun gun. There are different voltages and sizes to choose from. Manufactures are now making stun guns disguised as cell phones, soda cans, credit cards, flashlights, and other unique objects that you use every day.
Pepper Sprays
Pepper Spray is also common amongst the different self defense products. It is also cheaper, smaller and wards off the attacker so you can run to safety. Pepper spray is also sold in a classic tube form. Manufacturers are also using distinct objects to camouflage the pepper spray in such things as lipstick. Pepper spray is also used by law enforcement to disperse crowds in a riot. However, these are more high powered pepper sprays that require proper training.
Tasers
Tasers are another effective self defense product being used for safety and protection. Tasers shoot out darts that are attached to 15 feet wires. Its voltage travels through the wires to attack the nervous system of the assailant.
Airsoft Guns
Airsoft guns are good for practicing self defense so that when you encounter a real life situation, you will be able to react accordingly. You will be able to use Airsoft guns to improve your alertness and response speed if attacked.
Self-defense products help to protect your family and you. Be sure to take charge of your safety and consider one or more of these self defense products. It has already been proven to save many other lives in the past and it can save yours too.

Buying Self Defense Products
Tuesday, March 18th, 2008Self defense products are the weapon against attacks and the ultimate security tool because it can save your life. It is for that reason that many people are becoming very aware of the need for their safety and protection using self defense products.
These include stun guns, pepper sprays, tasers, personal alarms, and more, which have all become extremely popular since the increase of crime.
These self defense products are utilized by security companies worldwide, law enforcement agencies and the military. Since late 2007, it is reported that more than 11,000 law enforcement agencies use Tasers. Stun guns are considered more effective and is used by most police departments.
Legal in all fifty states across America is Pepper spray. Be sure to check your city and state for any current restrictions. The manufacturer of self defense products should provide safety use and quality in the product. After quality and safety have been established, then the next requirement is for the Hazleton Laboratories to test and verify that the product is of high quality and safe to use. There are no shortcuts on quality or safety here.
The police are limited to how many places they can be at one time and at all times, so people are equipping themselves with their own method of self defense to protect themselves and their families. The word is spreading too amongst friends that self defense products should be included in their daily carrying cases, purses, or cars.
Self defense products can be found online where there is a wide variety of selections at the best prices and with low shipping costs. You will also find self defense product websites online that provide additional information on each product to give you an informed decision before you buy. You will see enlarged pictures of each product and a list of the different features of each product.
If you are looking for tasers, pepper sprays, stun guns and maybe an electronic home security system, go online and search for “self defense products,” and you will find what you are looking for or for your convenience, you can go directly to www.laneselfdefense.com.
It is apparent that crime is here to stay whether at a large or small scale so that is the first and foremost reason for adequate protection. Secondly, we already established that the police cannot be everywhere when you need them and so you have to provide protection on your own.
Thirdly, the popularity of self defense products cannot be overlooked and it shows how many people are seeing the value of owning self defense products for their safety and protection. Self defense products are not popular because of any trends, but due to the increase of crime and the fact that people feel that their lives are threatened.
These products are become quite respected because they have saved so many lives and could save your life. By just having it in your possession is enough to give you that sense of peace and safety.
