Another attack on Lake Phalen in St. Paul

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

For the third time in month, a person was attacked in the Lake Phalen area of St. Paul. This time, it was a 23 year old woman jogger, according a story on KARE-11 TV.

It’s sad that some person or persons are intent on targeting people in this area and making them feel vulnerable. Most of these cases have not involved robbery attempts, just criminal assault. I don’t know whether these criminals are frustrated about the economy and have turned to taking their frustrations out on innocent victims, but I do know that is has to stop!

I would love to see one of these criminals run into someone carrying pepper spray or a Taser and getting a taste of their own medicine.

ANYONE can be a CRIMINAL.

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

I just saw this story on the local news tonight about a man who had stolen a car. This thief was so proud of himself that he actually called 911 and reported that he had stolen a car and, since he was much smarter than the police, they would never catch him!

Well, he was wrong. The police arrived at his residence the next day and arrested him. You see, the police have this new fangled device called “caller ID”. It lets them see exactly who is calling them and provides the callers phone number, etc. This feature is very useful for determining who called them in case the caller gets disconnected at some point during the phone call. People that need help, or are reporting to authorities that someone else needs help, can get disconnected for various reasons like passing out, trying to escape a dangerous situation like a criminal chasing them, etc.

It turns out that caller ID also comes in real handy when the authorites are trying to locate a REALLY STUPID CRIMINAL!

Maybe it’s just me, but it sure seems like there is a lot more crime these days. I think that when times get tough, Americans naturally do whatever they can to survive. Most of us with an education and some work experience have options regarding what type of work we will accept even in the current dismal state of the economy.

If you’re young and stupid, you probably don’t have many (or any) sources of income to turn to. Unfortunetly, it seems like there are more people turning to crime these days as a way to support themselves. The crime industry is an equal idiot employment opportunity. There are no resumes needed, no job interviews to go on, no sending your resume off into some black box and just praying that SOMEONE will eventually invite you to meet for an interview.

Can you imagine some armed robber holding up a gas station and the clerk behind the window asking the robber “Is this your first robbery attempt? Because you act like you don’t have much experience at this sort of thing. How many robbery’s have you successfully pulled off in the past? Have you actually ever shot a person? I’m sorry, but I really don’t think you’re qualified to pull off this robbery. I think it’s best if you just leave because we would like to pursue some other, more qualifed robbers. If you will just leave a business card, we’ll add your information to our database of other criminals and follow up with you if we have a need for your services within the next 12 months.”

What is YOUR life worth?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

I just registered my new TASER C2 with TASER International and was thinking I made a pretty good investment in the safety of myself and my family. Let me explain how valuable this device is, in case you’re not familiar the TASER C2.

c2 blue2

The TASER C2 is a self-defense electronic control device Manufactured by TASER International, the same company that manufactures TASERs used by Law Enforcement personnel all over the world. The TASER C2 is just as effective as the TASER used by Law Enforcement, plus it has some smart additional features which make it perfect for any ordinary citizen to use.

The TASER C2 uses a replaceable cartridge containing compressed nitrogen to deploy to the small probes that are attached to the TASER C2 by insulated conductive wires with a maximum length of 15 feet. The TASER C2 transmits electrical pulses along the wires and into the body of affecting the sensory and motor functions of the peripheral nervous system. The energy can penetrate up to 2 inches of clothing, or 1 inch per probe.

How does a TASER work?
The human nervous system communicates with simple electrical impulses. The command center (brain and spinal cord) processes information and makes decisions. The peripheral nervous system includes the sensory and motor nerves. The sensory nerves carry information from the body to the brain (temperature, touch, etc.) the motor nerves carry commands from the brain to the muscles to control movement and can be involuntary in response to the sensory information. An example would be involuntary muscle reaction to pull the hand away from a hot object.

TASER technology uses similar electrical pulses to costs stimulation that affects the century and motor nerves. No muscular incapacitation (NMI) occurs when a device is able to cause involuntary stimulation of both the sensory nerves and the motor nerves. It is not dependent on pain and is effective on subjects with a high level of pain tolerance.

Previous generations of stun guns could primarily affect the Senator nerves only, resulting in pain compliance. A person with a very high tolerance pain (e.g., a drug abuser or a trained, focused fighter) might be able to fight through the pain of a traditional stun gun.

Electricity must be able to flow between the probes of the electrodes.

Electricity generally follows the path of least resistance between the probes. The greater the spread between the probes on the target, generally the greater the NMI effectiveness.

Electricity will generally not pass to others in contact with the subject unless contact is made directly between or on the probes.

Electricity can arc through clothing.

Exposure to water will not cause electrocution to increase the power to the subject (electrical charge is fixed inside the TASER device, and will not increase significantly even with environmental changes).

TASER technology uses similar electrical pulses to cause stimulation that affects the sensory and motor nerves. Neromuscular Incapacitation (NMI) occurs when a device is able to cause an involuntary stimulation of both the sensory nerves and the motor nerves. It is not dependent on pain and is effective on subjects of the high level of pain tolerance.

SPECIAL FEATURES TO PREVENT MISUSE
Every time a TASER C2 cartridge is deployed, at least 24 small, confetti -like AFID tags are ejected. Each AFID is printed with the serial number of the cartridge deployed, allowing law enforcement agencies to determine the registered owner of the cartridge and track citizen use if ever used in a criminal act.

You are required to complete a criminal background check in order to receive a unique code that will be used to activate your TASER C2. This means that when a TASER C2 has been fired, it will be much easier for the police to track down the registered owner of the device.

The TASER C2, with laser guided targeting, costs $350. It costs another $10 to register your unit with TASER. This is a one-time fee.

The TASER C2 is certainly not the cheapest self defense device available, but I feel this is the most effective, non-lethal self defense device currently on the market and well worth the investment in the safety of myself and my family.

You SAY you WANT a REVOLUTION?

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

Another week, another disappointing stock market. But, cheer up! I think some long overdue change is on it’s way. And remember, there’s more to life than just money. To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, “This too, shall pass.”

We don’t have to look too far to see the signs of outrageous greed that ran rampant during the last stock market bull cycle. Here are just some of the highlights from the last week of media reports that exhibit the excessive greediness of corporate executives:

  • The Trustee in the Bernard Madoff bankruptcy case reported that the financier hadn’t bought any securities for the past 13 years!

  • The SEC filed fraud charges against Texas billionaire Allen Stanford and two other executives of Stanford Group of selling $8 billion in high-yield certificates of deposit with impossibly high interest rates in a worldwide scheme.

  • GM CEO Rick Wagoner was quoted at a press conference stating: “We have to restructure…so we can be viable at a sales level that is dramatically lower than what we ever anticipated.” Huh? You mean GM Executives never considered what would happen if oil prices increased from historically low levels and what impact that would have on their dominant market share position and sales of gas guzzling SUV’s and trucks? Were they too busy working on their golf game to bother with such small details?

  • Speaking of General Motors, GM and Chrysler told the U.S. Congress that they could need $21.6 billion more in aid to keep them going. GM said it could need $100 billion in financing if it filed for bankruptcy, and CEO Rick Wagner said bankruptcy would be “risky” and would only be used as a last resort. I wonder what Wagner really means when he says that a GM bankruptcy would be “risky”? Risky for him, personally, and his future salary and earnings prospect perhaps?

  • UBS agreed to pay $780 million and identify some American clients with undeclared bank accounts, to settle a tax case and avert criminal charges. But Switzerland’s finance minister vowed that the country’s bank secrecy would be maintained.

But, as Bob Dylan would say, “The times, they are a changing.” Yes, the Federal Goverment is throwing an awful lot of money at our financial markets to try and stop the decline in our financial markets and restore some resembelance of confidence again. As inflationary as the long-term effects of this loose money policy will be, they really don’t have a choice if they have any hope of preventing the global economy from falling into a long, deep and severe depression.

Critics of President Obama’s new housing rescue plan say they don’t want to pay for their neighbor’s mortgage in the form of higher taxes. Well, I don’t think anyone is happy about paying higher taxes, but what choice do we really have? The economy is messed up, big time. We can’t blame President Obama for this because things were already messed up by the time he was elected into office. He could complain about the crappy job that he inherited from the outgoing administration, but he’s not. He’s doing everything that he can to try and stop the bleeding and prevent any further damage from occuring.

Now, to get back to the headline of this long-winded blog post, It was clear from the November 2008 U.S. Presidential results that Americans wanted change. Not just a little tweak, but a major change. Well, change IS coming. It has to, or else we are all dead. Not just the US economy, but the global economy. How can you imagine that a person as insane as Adolph Hitler became so powerful? Germany was weak from the last major recession and people were starving and desperate for change. These people were so desperate that they decided that while Hitler had some radical ideas, nothing else had worked so far. They HAD to DO SOMETHING! So they put this guy named Hitler with some crazy ideas into power to see if that might fix things. And the rest is history, as they say.

Please don’t misunderstand and think that I’m comparing President Obama to Adolph Hitler, because that is NOT WHAT I’M DOING. American’s are smart enough to learn from the past mistakes of others and I think Obama is exactly what America needs right now to get us out of this financial mess without creating more problems down the road.

Just to be safe, you might want to pick up a C2 TASER in case their’s an uprising in your neigborhood…

A Taser is simply a less lethal alternative to a hand gun. Afterall, you just want to stop your neighbor from attacking you and stealing your stuff. You don’t want to actually KILL HIM, right?

How Safety Lights can Protect you in Today’s World

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

When you think of self defense products you typically think about pepper spray, stun guns or personal security alarms. However, there is another effective form of self defense that is not usually considered and that is a safety light.

How Safety Lights May Help

Safety lights are designed to light up the way when you are out walking on a dark night. Not only do they help you to see better, but they also enable you to draw attention to yourself. This may seem like a bad idea; after all, who wants to draw attention to themselves at night when there are potential attackers out there? Surely the attacker will see you and find it easier to attack you? Well surprisingly drawing attention to yourself does not increase the risk of you being attacked, instead it prevents it.
By drawing attention to yourself with a safety light it enables other people to see you. So if you are attacked there is a better chance that somebody will witness what is happening. Help can then be called and your attacker will be scared off. So that is one way in which a safety light can protect you.

By lighting up the way a safety light will also help you to see potential attackers. Often when you are walking late at night it is difficult to see what is in front of you. That is why so many people are attacked because their attacker can see them, but they did not see their attacker until it was too late. By seeing where you are going you will be able to assess the possible risks ahead and that can potentially stop you from being attacked.

Choosing a Good Safety Light

There are different lights that you can purchase but typically the best types to get are the LED versions. You can also choose between flashing lights and simple constant lights. If you use a flashing light that does help to draw attention to you when you are being attacked. A constant light is better to help you to see where you are going. For best results it would be a good idea to purchase a LED light that has the ability to flash but which also has a constant light on it too.

If you want a light which is convenient to carry then you should choose the Cell Phone flash light. This is designed to peel and stick to your cell phone and it can easily be operated whenever it is needed. It lasts for up to 6,000 hours and you can use it literally everywhere. It is small enough to easily carry around and use outside and generally it is one of the best lights available.

If you just want the simplest of safety lights then the LED light is what you need. It comes with seven different flashing patterns and you can choose from three different styles. There is a wrist strap, a bicycle light and a belt clip. It has a very powerful light and the seven different flashing functions will help you to signal help if it is needed.

Overall safety lights may not be able to directly stop an attack, but they can help to prevent them. It would be a good idea to carry around another self defense product such as pepper spray if you really want to protect yourself, or even just a personal safety alarm to further draw attention to yourself in the event of an attack. You can even purchase combined safety alarms and lights and that may be the best option for you.

Theft Prevention Techniques

Saturday, May 10th, 2008

80355

In a perfect world no one has to worry about theft; everyone is always happy; no one ever gets hurt; and you can trust everyone. Unfortunately our world isn’t perfect. Theft prevention is very important to large and small businesses, as well as renters and homeowners.

Recently a local retail store manager said she had busted a nine-year-old child for shoplifting. She brought the issue to the attention of the child’s mother and was shocked at the response. The mother knew what her child was doing. The store manager called the police and handed the issue off to local authorities.

A middle-aged man lived in a very nice, quiet neighborhood and owned a very large black dog. For years, the crime in his neighborhood was nearly nonexistent. Everyone in the neighborhood seemingly looked out for each other. He arrived home from work one evening only to find his garage and storage building had been broken into. The thieves had stolen several power tools and everything else they could get their hands on.

These are only two of millions of stories just like them. Theft is a problem worldwide. Thieves don’t discriminate due to skin color, gender, orientation or religion. They are not centralized to cities or highly populated areas. With the many cost-effective ways to secure your belongings, isn’t it better to take precautions before something happens?

Professionally installed alarm systems are a great start to help protect your home and belongings. On the other hand, professional thieves are trained to get around alarm systems. Some even see an alarm system as a challenge to overcome. Protecting your home and valuables should include more than just an alarm system.

Hidden cameras are a great way to catch thieves. High quality camera footage can capture great pictures and video of thieves as they are stealing your valuables. Hidden cameras come in a wide array of styles. Some don’t even look like a hidden camera at all. Your hidden camera could be virtually any style you choose. For example a hidden camera could be installed on your phone, a radio, a smoke detector or even in a stuffed animal.

For business owners and homeowners alike, cameras and surveillance monitors can save a lot of trouble in finding out who your thieves are. Many large companies, as well as small businesses, have incorporated video surveillance. Some employ security guards to watch the monitors, while others record everything to be played back later in the event of a theft. Wireless monitors are also available for remote surveillance systems.

Hidden cameras or surveillance monitors alone probably aren’t enough, simply because they don’t alert authorities to the crime in action like an alarm system does. A high quality hidden camera or monitor used in conjunction with an alarm system could help prevent or even capture thieves. As the saying goes, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

Nanny Cameras: Hidden Assurance in the Home

Friday, April 25th, 2008

In the current climate of abuse scandals and general mistrust, it is no surprise that more and more people are turning to surveillance. In no area is this more common than childcare.

You love your children more than anyone else in the world. Why wouldn’t you want to know that they are safe and in good hands? Most parents feel the same way, which is why many are turning to nanny cameras. Parents want to verify that they are paying the right kind of person to keep an eye on their kids.

Several abuse scandals have hit the media about babysitters caught on tape abusing children. One nanny was discovered carrying a child by his leg, another shaking and dropping a child. Another scene showed two infants left unattended on the edge of a couch. Any of these actions can lead to permanent injury or fatalities. The thought of these things happening to a child makes any parent shudder. Nanny cameras can provide assurance that childcare workers are doing their job and presenting a safe environment for children.

A variety of different cameras are priced according to features and how advanced they are. Some allow remote computer access. Other actually broadcast a live feed that can be accessed by cell phone. More elaborate systems allow remote Internet access while simultaneously recording the footage on your home computer’s hard drive. That way the video can be retained as evidence, should anything objectionable occur. These extensive systems offer several cameras that you can place all over your home to allow comprehensive surveillance.

Nanny cameras come in any variety of household devices and even teddy bears. Air purifiers, clock radios, lamps, books, stereo speakers and even DVD players masquerade as normal household items, yet contain a hidden lens. With the variety of items offered now, cameras can be easily hidden all over your home.

When considering what kind of nanny camera you will purchase, consider your needs. Wires can be suspicious if they are coming out of a houseplant. Also decide if you need a wireless transmitter if you want the signal to be accessible outside the home or away from a computer. If you chose a wireless nanny camera, don’t forget the batteries.

Consider the following before bringing a nanny camera into your home. Hidden camera surveillance is legal. However, it is illegal to secretly records speech in several states. Check the laws where you live to make sure you aren’t breaking any. Any evidence collected illegally is dismissed in court. Also, make sure that you aren’t putting your children in jeopardy to “prove” someone is acting poorly by getting them on camera.

Decide whether you will tell your nanny that they are being recorded. Any nanny that would be severely disturbed at the idea would be a person you may want to reconsider hiring. Professional nannies that do their job well and with heart will want to prove their worth. The camera can be a screening device before you even turn it on.

Make sure to take just as much care with whom you hire as your nanny as you do with the camera you purchase. Legal nannies have Social Security numbers and a job history. References are not always enough. Make sure a thorough background check can be done on the person you hire to care for your children. Pay attention to your impression of that person. If you have any doubts that the nanny does not have the absolute best interests of your children at heart, don’t wait for a camera to prove it.

Stay Safe,

Steve Lane

Commercial business burglary

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Ninety per cent of burglary prevention is physical security. If your complex is locked up and unauthorized entry is made difficult, time consuming, noisy and visible, chances of a successful burglary are kept to a minimum. The burglar will pass up your business and look for an easier target.

Prevention

Locks on all outside entrances and inside security doors should be double cylinder deadbolts with moveable collars. The deadbolt should have at least one inch throw containing a hardened steel insert and protected by a latch guard. Padlocks should be of hardened steel mounted on bolted hasps and always locked to prevent exchange. Serial numbers should be filed off to prevent new keys from being made. Doors should be of solid construction, metal lined and secured with heavy metal crossbars. Jams around doors must be solid. All exposed hinges should be pinned to prevent removal.

Windows should have secure locks or you can put in a window alarm. Burglar resistant glass treatmen
ts are also recommended. An example would be the installation of polyester security film. However, this must be used conjunction with the alarm’s glass break sensor. Heavy metal grates may be used on windows of high vulnerability such as rear windows. Check with the Fire Marshall for safety requirements.

Lights must provide optimum visibility, both inside and out, with those outside having vandal-proof covers over the lights and power source. Entire perimeter must be well lit, especially the area around doors and other possible entry points. Alarm system should be supplied by a licensed alarm company with a central monitoring station. Check the safety alarm system on a daily basis, and advertise its presence to deter break-ins.

Cash register should be kept in plain view from outside the building so it can be easily monitored and should be left open when empty and not in use. Safe should be fire proof, burglar resistant, anchored securely and in plain view. Leave it open when it is empty, and use it lock up valuables when business is closed. Change the combination whenever someone with access to it leaves your employment.

Building exterior should be checked including the roof, cellar and walls. Secure all openings. Maintain good visibility by not allowing landscaping boxes, trash bins, vehicles or equipment near building where they might provide concealment or access to the roof.
Perimeter fences need to be adequate enough to keep intruders out, and at the same time allow good visibility of your business by neighbors and police. Key control should be done in a responsible manner. A master key system where on key opens all locks may be convenient, but it may not be the best for security.

Code all keys, keep them locked up when not in use, and do not allow employees to leave them lying around or make duplicates. Change locks whenever you suspect key security has been jeopardized. ID numbers should be marked on all equipment and stickers should be displayed to make this plainly evident to would-be thieves. The best number to use is your personal driver’s license number. Also keeping a record of serial numbers on all equipment may help in recovery. To get more information about how you can protect yourself against possible crime, go to http://www.laneselfdefense.com/tripleaction.htm.

When you have to go on a vacation

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

What if you have to go on a vacation, how would you protect your home? Would you leave your neighbors to watch the house for you or would you install a home security system, a home alarm, a window alarm, a door alarm, a wireless hidden camera or an electronic bark dog home security system? You don’t want to leave your home open to intruders and robbers because if you don’t have a security system or alarm, that would be exactly what you would be doing.

One of the times your home is most vulnerable is when it is left empty for an extended period of time. Darkened windows, mail, or newspapers collecting and closed windows in hotter weather all advertise your absence to a potential burglar.

The best protection for your apartment during your absence is to have a house sitter. A friend you trust staying at your house can take care of your pets and/or plants in addition to making sure that the house remains inhabited. However, regardless of having a house sitter, you still need a home security system. You can still have your neighbor check on your home or apartment while you are away, but the neighbor is somehow limited.

You should still keep all lights on or maybe a television or radio. Turn on your wireless security camera to watch over your home while you are on vacation. Make sure if you have a friend or neighbor checking the outside and inside of your home while you are away knows how to operate your alarm or home security system because if the alarm should go off and the home security system representative calls, they will ask for a password. If it is known, then the representative will think that your home is burglarized and then you will have the police at your door in no time arresting your friend or neighbor. You don’t want to have a scene like that.

Unless you have a house sitter or someone to watch your home, stop your mail from being delivered or any newspaper delivery also. Nothing announces an empty house or apartment better than a stack of newspapers or an overflowing mailbox. Ask the neighbor to pick up any packages delivered while you are gone.

If you have a garden or plants on your balcony, make sure someone is watering the plant regularly or put the plants where they cannot be seen. Plants slowly dying due to lack of water may announce your absence as well.

Check your lease. Many landlords require that you notify them if you are leaving your apartment empty for any period of time. This is so they can enter in case of an emergency even if they are unable to reach you. However, your landlord will need to be notified that you have an alarm system and that they would need the password to enter. Of course, if you have to give the landlord your password, you would have to change it when you get back. A wireless home security system will put your mind at ease than a house sitter, friend or neighbor would. For more information, please go to http://www.laneselfdefense.com/wireless-security-system.htm

Wearing a hidden spy camera

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Wearing a spy camera is an ingenious way to feel safer. It can also help you to see things that the natural eyes may not be able to detect. If you are afraid of missing something important and not able to pay close attention right away, a spy camera on your body is something that you might want to consider. If you have a spy camera discreetly and carefully hidden on your clothes, you can go into a room and have it recorded to view much later. The eye won’t be able to scan the entire room, but your hidden camera would. The hidden spy camera will also be able to utilize its slow motion features so that you can go over the film slowly. A spy camera like this comes in handy and is very easy to use and almost undetectable to others.

A spy camera that is put on the body for secret surveillance comes with a transmitter and the images are captured to the recorder. This recorder can be a VCR or a DVD, but there are hidden cameras that use state of the art technology that allows the images to go to computers. This means that you can set your computer to record the images from your camera, and then you cannot look over them later, focusing on different parts of the images, and being able to see things that you were not able to visualize or see with your naked eye.
Spy cameras can be hidden on different parts of the body and in different ways.

It may look like a regular or natural object to someone who does not know that you are carrying a hidden spy camera on your body. For example, a hidden camera can be displayed in a button on your clothes, in a baseball or regular cap, in a pair of sunglasses and in a wig, if you decide to wear one during any sleuthing or investigative work. You can even carry it around in a book bag, cigarette lighter, pack of cigarette, in a pen, in a pager or cell phone and almost anything else that you carry frequently.

In most cases, the camera is built into these regular objects, which makes it easier for you that you don’t have to install it yourself. The primary reason for a spy camera is to take pictures of someone without their knowledge if you want to find out information about that person.

In addition to a spy camera hidden on your body, you may be able to incorporate a small listening equipment to listen to what the person may have said while you weren’t in close proximity. This will only help to enlarge the visuals you capture, and can even help you add framework to what you are seeing. Additionally, it gives you the capability to listen again for things that you might have not discovered during your original surveillance.

When you administer surveillance, it is vital to make sure that you cover all your bases. This means that you should have an alternative way to supplement your own eyes and ears. This is possible with a small listening device and spy camera worn on the body.

Who needs a Hidden Spy Camera

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

A hidden spy camera is something that most people need, but don’t realize what will make their life feel more secure and safe. There is no doubt that crime is getting worse instead of better. In our every day lives, we are affected by so many circumstances that require more of our attention. All of us have busy lives and things might go undetected without even noticing until the implications become a reality. The wireless hidden camera comes in a variety of disguised product type.

Here are 10 distinct ways a hidden spy camera can work for different situations:
1. The alarm clock hidden spy camera can be used to spy on your children’s actions
2. The Exit sign hidden spy camera can allow you to see what your employees are doing; if they are leaving early or being productive
3. The Emergency Light camera will be perfect to catch a thief red-handed.
4. The Motion Detector hidden camera records anything that goes on in your house
5. Do you know what your nanny is doing to your children while you are away? The Wall clock hidden camera will spy on exactly what your nanny is doing while you are away.
6. Catch your cheating spouse in the act by the air freshener hidden spy camera.
7. The cordless phone can be used to watch your pet while you are at work
8. The baby monitor and the button camera actually records conversation
9. The ballerina doll is quite cute and is an awesome disguise to monitor a particular room in your home
10. The smoke alarm wireless hidden camera is almost undetectable home to see who is coming in and out of your home

There are numerous reasons and ways to use a wireless hidden spy camera. These are just a few. These cameras come in black and white as well as color. I personally prefer the color one that I have in my home, but black and white is just as effective.

Hidden Cameras work well with Television, VCR or DVR. There are 46 states that permit the use of hidden cameras. Using this device in the workplace requires permission from the law to install the hidden camera because it might violate the employee’s privacy. However, it can be used after hours to protect your business.

A hidden wireless camera is considered a violation if recorded in a locker room, bedroom, bathroom, or dressing room. Anyone who owns a hidden spy camera should use it responsibly. It is a tool that offers a sense of security.

Benefits of high-tech home security devices

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Men may be eons away from the barbaric way of life they used to but this doesn’t mean they have to be complacent about their security. The world has become modern and its people more civil but danger still lies in almost every home in America today.

Security is one of the top concerns of most households today no matter where they live. Any one who would take a look at the crime statistics today would have sleepless nights thinking about how vulnerable he and his family can be to criminal acts.

This has not always been the case with American society. There were days when a family could sleep peacefully even without a gate surrounding their abode. Those were the days when a trusted old dog could be relied on to do the trick of scaring away possible thieves.

Today is a different story. The economic hardship being experienced by almost anyone is taking its toll on society and is paving the way for high crime incidents in almost every neighborhood.

During these times, every family will be better off with good, if not high technology security devices. Anyone who is concerned about the safety of his family and his property should invest in a high tech home security system to keep them safe and to keep possible criminals off their yards and out off their lives.

Some people don’t think of investing in high tech security devices until such a time when their privacy and safety has already been attempted upon. Most people will only think of these safety devices when a neighbor has been victimized by a burglar or a close friend has become a victim of a crime.

Everyone should be proactive in these matters and look for ways to deter criminals from committing their plans. These people will scout for homes that look unprotected inside and out and they will target that vulnerability. It is always better to be prepared and safe rather than to scrimp on home security devices and regret and suffer the consequences later on.

Singles who live alone and who don’t have much property can rely on their own karate skills or perhaps the good old bolt and dog to ward of criminals. Criminals wouldn’t be interested in scouting their land if it appears that there isn’t much to be taken away, except of course if the intention is to harm the dweller.

It is a different story for people who have children and who have valuable property inside their homes. Nothing should be spared when it comes to the wellbeing and safety of the family so it is most often the family man who would take time to install such safety security devices in his home.

However, singles or families who live in an area known for the not-so-good peace and order condition should really invest in security devices. It may be quite expensive but if it means being able to sleep well at night then no costs should be spared.

Using a nanny hidden wireless camera

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Hiring a babysitter or nanny comes with taking precautionary measures to make sure that you child or children are being properly taken care of. Every parent has that nightmare of a nanny that could abuse their children, even though they wish it not to happen. Taking the necessary steps to avoid the occurrence of such an unsightly event can mean the difference between life and death.

For those eight hours that you may be gone to work or a few hours away from your children makes a whole lot of difference in the world. Your children’s safety is at stake and at the hands of a stranger who you do not yet know enough about. How do you protect your children without feeling as you are violating someone else’s privacy? What is most important? I would think that children’s security is more important. Make sure you learn more about your local laws in terms of installing a video camera in your home.

Even if you have thoroughly investigated your nanny, you should still have a nanny wireless camera installed in your home. You can go through the whole gamut of background checks, references and credit checks and still not know all you can about the nanny. The background check, references, and credit check don’t reveal the nanny’s personality or mood. You have to find that out the hard way or through the process of installing a hidden wireless camera especially if your children are very young and not able to explain themselves.

When your nanny leaves after you get home, you can put in the tape and watch the video to see what transpired while you were away from home. You may be shocked to see how the nanny spends the day or what she is doing to your child or children. What if you have a crazy nanny who drinks on the job or who shakes your child so hard because the child is crying? You would want to know, wouldn’t you?

A wireless hidden spy camera is the best way and most inexpensive method of having some extra eyes for you while you are gone. There are some day cares that have cameras installed and set up with the Internet so mothers especially can look at what their child is doing during the day. I think this is a brilliant idea. So why can’t homeowners who hire nannies to take care of their children do the same thing?

Of course, they can. The nanny hidden spy cameras are manufactured and disguised in the form of stuffed animals, soda cans, wall clocks, radios, mirrors, vases, and even picture frames. This will give parents the peace of mind to know that they have something to rely on that will provide some type of protection for their children.

Hidden wireless cameras add safety and security to every home and business. It provides a security level that is necessary in this society that we live in. No more can people be totally trusted to perform their duties when you are absent. The nanny wireless hidden camera is a parent’s best friend.

Spy camera glasses and pinhole spy cameras

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Have you seen the latest technology of a spy camera glasses and the pinhole spy camera? Well, it is one of the smartest tools to use. It is similar to the one Tom Cruise wore in “Mission Impossible,” but with more ingenuity. The camera is embedded in the glasses and the camera captures the images as the person who is wearing the glasses sees them. The camera could be embedded in the nose piece, handle or rim of the glasses. It could be disguised in a regular sun glass or any other type of glasses.

Wearing a spy camera in the form of a sun glass can make it hard for anyone to know that you are watching them. I think it is the perfect tool for a business owner who may suspect an employee to be cheating time off the clock or products. The employee would never imagine that a camera could be hidden in a pair of sun glasses. This is an easy way to make your business safe.

The spy glasses works like a wireless or hidden camera. The signals or video transmissions are sent to the recording device, but the distance for transmission allowed would be no more than 18” away from the camera. You can put the camera in your pocket or possible in one of those bags that you put around your waist. Spy glasses are used professionally in espionage tactics, during the investigation of a crime or in the workplace.

Pinhole spy cameras are instrumental in securing the safety of the home and business. Pinhole spy cameras are so small that you can hide them in a picture frame, inside a lamp, in a stuffed animal, on top of the television, in your phone, in a vase, and in other inconspicuous places that no one would think of looking. There are some that are as small as a quarter and are easily disguised because of their size. This pinhole camera is not easy to detect and works without the person being taped having any knowledge of it.

Ideally, you would need a VCR or computer to operate the pinhole security spy camera. You also need two good batteries or nine voltage battery. Some pinhole camera models have built-in smoke detectors or air purifiers. This is quite unique to the pinhole spy camera. Some also come with a built-in motion sensor, which means only at every movement does the camera start to record.
Pinhole spy cameras are great to use for surveillance and for security. This is the type of camera that would suit business owners who want to monitor their employee’s productivity, homeowners could use these to spy on their nannies and employers could decrease the instances of stealing among employees.

Pinhole spy camera is excellent for using, economical and easy to install. It is a discreet way to keep your home or business safe without the knowledge of those around.

The importance of having a home security camera

Monday, March 24th, 2008

There are many homeowners who are taking charge of their own safety and applying security measures to their homes. You might walk by a home and see a security camera over the garage door, one at the back of the home and one on either side of the home. This shows how important the homeowner feels about their safety and security.

It makes the homeowner have peace of mind to knowing that there is some protection against intruders. Even though intruders are becoming more brazen today, the home security camera offers a sense of safety and a means to help the police to catch any intruder that may invade the property of a homeowner.

It is possible that the robber or burglar will see the home security camera and be frightened and run away. So, even the fact that it is there, gives some semblance of security. There are other means of home security such as window and door alarms. These can be additional precautionary methods of home security.

If a homeowner has to take a vacation, then a home security camera, window alarm and door alarm are going to the best product for them to have to give added peace of mind. Any type of break in or vandalism will be videotaped while they are away.
Business owners make sure that their businesses are protected with a wireless security camera and video surveillance system. Apartment complexes, doctor’s offices, pharmacies, government buildings and nursing homes are all equipped with proper surveillance camera systems for safety and protection. Everyone is jumping on board to securing their property or business.

The increase of crime and robberies are increasing. Thieves are becoming quite blatant in their desperation for money and will go to all lengths to commit a robbery. They no longer care about going to jail. So the homeowner and the business person have to be one step ahead of these thieves by getting state of the art security systems that will help to catch these intruders.
The night vision surveillance camera takes automatic pictures when there is any kind of movement in front of it. This picture is then stored and available for viewing later. You retrieve the picture by plugging the camera into a monitor such as a television or VCR.

After you have finished looking at the pictures, you can opt to erase or copy them to a VCR tape or you can save the pictures on your computer hard drive. The night vision security camera is built with 8mm lens and is made to work in the dark and at day time. It comes with a power adapter, a video cable and 2 remote controls.

If a security camera is in a parking lot and their car is stolen in most cases it can be retrieved, not to mention they have that peace of mind of walking to their cars under surveillance and know that there is a lower risk of being attacked or abducted by someone intending to harm them or hurt them in order to gain access to their belongings or their vehicle. There’s just too much crime to not have security cameras in most places.

Wireless home security

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Home security systems used to be flashing lights or loud noises when a burglar approaches, but that is no longer the case. A home video surveillance system and wireless security camera have taken precedence over those loud alarm monitoring security systems. These have developed as different and easier options to protecting your home.

These wireless home security cameras or video systems offer the homeowner so much more benefits to keep a closer eye on their entire home; both indoors and outdoors. There are hidden wireless cameras that the robber cannot see. You can administer your surveillance without the intruder knowing that he or she has been videotaped. These wireless hidden security cameras transmit directly to your television or computer or even your cell phone. You don’t need any special software to work with these wireless security systems.

A hidden wireless camera is not only to catch the thief, but to watch your nanny. These are called nanny wireless hidden cameras or wireless nanny hidden cameras. There are some parents who find peace of mind in knowing what is going on at home while they are away especially if children are involved. The media has covered stories that reveal a hidden camera catching a nanny abusing a child. Had the parent not put in the hidden camera, they would not have been able to know that their child was being abused. If you have an elderly parent at home while you are away, this is a good way to see what is going on and to make sure everything is OK. You can use the hidden camera to watch your pet while you are not home. The hidden wireless camera comes in different models. Some can look like a soda can, mirror, doll, clock, radio, phone, teddy bear, and normal things that would not look out of place at home.

You can purchase a wireless hidden camera in color or black and white. While some people prefer color, black and white also works just as well. It should only be a personal preference. Black and white wireless cameras, of course, cost a little less than color and that is their only difference.

All wireless home security camera systems have become quite economical for homeowners. Before, this was not the case. It was mostly bought by business owners. However, with modern technology and the increased crime rate, vendors are making it easier for homeowners to buy a wireless home security camera to protect their home and their family. You can either have professional installation, but installation is so easy, that you can do it yourself.

Make sure you buy a security camera that has at least a 2.4 MHZ capacity. You get better picture and transmission. Be careful to purchase from a company that is reliable and will offer customer support in the event that you have questions or need troubleshooting. There are companies online that sell different types of security cameras or surveillance systems to accommodate both business owners and homeowners.

Securing the outside of your home with a security camera

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Securing the outdoors of your home with a security wireless camera is part of the process of catching a burglar or someone who attempts to commit a crime on your home. The outdoor wireless camera is easy to install and once it is installed, it is ready to be used without having to worry about any wiring.

Once you set it up, you can be able to see what is going on around your home from inside the home. The camera is hooked up to a receiver, which you place indoors and the camera sends the video to the receiver. You can use outdoor wireless camera for your business also, if you own a business. You can connect the receiver to the television, your VCR, digital video recorder or computer. From this you can view the video or record the video. With your computer, you can record to the computer hard drive and be able to access the video later.

Be sure to know where you will place the security camera. It is important to place it somewhere that highlights different angles of your home or business. Plan where you will put the receiver because both the security camera and the receiver need to be at least 40 meters from each other in order for them to work. You can possibly think about placing the receiver closer to the window.
Extending the range of transmission using a plug-in wireless card that plugs into the outdoor wireless security camera would help to increase the range, if the distance between the camera and receiver is more than 40 meters. Some outdoor security cameras will come built in with antennas that cover a wider range of distance.

You will need a wireless security camera to use outdoors that is reliable and durable in different weather conditions, vandalism or any other external damages. Be sure to have something to house your camera. Don’t leave it exposed. You do want to protect it against any damages. It has to be covered to keep it from the sun, rain, snow or dust.

No matter what type of climate you live in, be sure to protect your wireless security camera against any kind of weather conditions, but especially extreme weather conditions. If you experience really hot climate where you live, you may need a wireless security camera that has a build-in fan. If you live in very cold climate, the same is true with a built-in heater. You may be able to buy a special housing for the camera from your self defense product store.

You also have to look at the light level of the camera. If the camera can operate at a lower level of light, then it can transmit a much clearer picture. If the level light is very low, then you might want to consider getting a camera that has night vision. Even in the dark, the camera will be able to transmit very clear picture of its surroundings.

The good thing about the outdoor wireless security camera is that it is easily installable and will give you the peace of mind to know that your home is protected.

Home Security Tips

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Wouldn’t you like to be alerted if a car comes up in your driveway, your kids to inside your tool shed, intruders approach your front or backyard, someone enters your garage, visitors approaching your front door, your parked boat or motor home as been invaded or your pets trample your flower garden? A Voice Alert Security system would solve all those issues in no time.

Protecting your home should be your primary focus especially with rampant crime rising every day. You have to work so hard to buy your home and the things that you conveniently purchase because you like them and want to enjoy them. There comes a thief who wants to invade your privacy and commit the crime that is unthinkable. How do you stop them?

A home security system of any kind can help you to do just that. Gone are the days when you have to sign up with a home security system company and pay a monthly monitoring fee for the rest of your life. If your budget is tight, there are other different options available. You can get the Mini Alert Alarm that uses passive infrared technology to protect a room from intruders. Producing an infrared triangle, the Mini Alert creates an unseen barrier that’s impossible to penetrate without setting off the alarm. It is battery operated and no wiring and can be easily moved to a new location.

The Mace Window Alert is a 95 decibel glass breakage alarm that attaches to windows and set off by vibrations if someone tries to break through. It installs easily on any window.

The Magnetic Door/ Window Alarm uses a magnetic affinity to initiate its 110 decibel siren. The base of the alarm is bolted to door or window frame, and the actuator is connected to the window or door. The alarm is activated by opening the door or window. It will scare your intruder away.

The Mace Motion Alert is a passive infrared system that detects motion in any selected area. Compact and attractive, it mounts easily (vertically or horizontally) near any entry area and is battery operated, eliminating any need for wiring. Unit can be coded with a personal security code and can be set to utilize a two-tone entry chime, instead of the alarm sound.

Do you know that you can make your intruder think there is a live dog in your living room? The Electronic barking dog home security alarm system does the trick. With his electronic radar eyes, the Electronic Watch Dog can “see” through thick doors, walls and glass. And once his cord is plugged in, he’ll stay on duty around the clock, indefinitely. The Electronic Watch Dog can protect homes, apartments, mobile homes, RV’s, jewelry stores, hotels, factories, warehouses, public and private buildings of virtually every kind.

If you have a pool in your backyard, you can add a pool alarm system. It acts as an alarm system to notify you if your child or pet has fallen into the pool.

Above the Fray

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Looking down on the Rockies, they look so pretty.

Flying across the Rockies is never as frightening as trying to go through the Rockies on foot. After all, the best American cannibalism stories involve the Rockies.

Up close, these enormous mountains pose real problems. There are a few usable passes through them of course, but when winter sets in, and drops a boatload of snow, travel grinds to a halt. Then, people get to sit and wait for the end.

That’s why you want to fly. With a little safe distance, you can get a totally different perspective.

Wouldn’t it be great to have a totally different perspective on your life?

http://www.laneselfdefense.com/cybereye.htm

Here’s how a simple wonder can let you see things a totally different way.

The Cyber Eye digital surveillance camera can help you keep track of things going on around you. It senses the presence of an intruder, and then springs into action. It records the image of the intruder and saves it to memory, so you can recover it whenever you want.

This is an extraordinary piece of hardware.

For one thing, it’s an infrared black and white camera. This is really cool because with the Infra Red LEDs it can take pictures in the dead of night. And, Mister Badguy can’t see these infrared lights.

Another cool feature is that is senses motion by changes in the picture. This means that this camera can be mounted behind window glass, like in your house or inside your car, and still work just fine.

This camera is easy to use. You can set it to take pictures at set time intervals. It can print time and date stamps on each picture. You can view the pictures on a TV or by plugging it into a VCR.

So, you have it all. It sees in the dark, it mounts nearly anywhere and it’s super easy to use.

So, what’s not to like?

Act today to see it all,

Steve Lane

P.S. This is a great camera for keeping an eye on your stuff.
