As Crime Increases and the Economy Falls-How Will You Defend Yourself?
Wednesday, February 11th, 2009How do you feel about the economy in today’s world? We are reading in almost every country, that crime is on the rise due to the problems in the workforce and the fall in the economy. So how will you defend yourself? Recent headlines are reading more and more of bank robberies, home invasions, car vandalism and thefts, purse snatchings, and other criminal behavior. With millions of people out of work, it is no wonder.
Crime analysts have always had different opinions about economic downturns leading to increasing crime rates. However, since the most recent fall on Wall Street, law enforcement agencies worldwide have seen notable increases in violence and property offenses as signs it is related to the economy. Cities around world are reporting robberies in unprecedented numbers compared to recent years, or even decades. Many of the target victims are retail stores which have never seen crimes such as these. Those would include grocery and clothing stores, banks, and even restaurant suppliers. Thefts of cars have jumped nationwide by 164% from last year, and vandalism leading to theft has more than doubled. Most law enforcement officers say it has been in direct correlation to the economy falling.
In October 2008, a survey of 180 law enforcement agencies by the Police Executive Research Forum in Washington, D.C., found that 75% cited the recent rise in crime was related to property crime.
The idea that the crime rate picks up when the economy tanks makes a lot of sense, intuitively. The unemployment rate increases during a recession and some of these newly unemployed people with marginal employment skills will likely turn to crime to support themselves and cover their cost of living.
The FBI states that the most vulnerable portion of the population, are young adults, many of whom have already been in some type of trouble with police, and who were trying to move into the workforce. They can’t find a job to keep them from returning to previously committed lives of crime. The Center for Crime Prevention and Control says the demand for illegal drugs is also being driven to more crime as the economy falls. Major surges in crime, are at their highest since the 1990’s. The sale of illicit drugs is the only way many criminals can find a way to afford the drugs to sell to those who illegally do them.
The combination of declining resources and increases in many offenses may be representing only the first wave of the bad news. Because desperate people do desperate things to stay afloat, there are thousands who are giving away pets because they can’t afford to feed them. Where once there was a dog to bark away an intruder, there is now nothing to deter a thief. People without an income certainly can’t spend upwards of $100 per month to install and run home security systems. Many have turned to the one time purchase of home alarms that do not require monthly service fees.
Many cities saw a dramatic decrease in crime over 2007 and 2008 due to more police patrols. However, 62% of US police departments are now having to cut their forces and cutting overtime spending completely.
Among cities reporting increases in crimes, almost all account this to the sagging economy. Atlanta Police blames the economy for increases of 14% in burglary, and 17% in auto theft. Instead of stealing jewelry and other valuables, burglars are taking flat-screen TVs and computers which can be resold as there is more demand. Thieves are even stealing license plates for the renewal stickers in order to find relief from paying taxes on their vehicles.
The safety of all citizens must be our first priority; the second is the protection of their property. We are doing our part by raising your awareness to methods of protection.

Stun Guns Safer for Everyone
Saturday, November 8th, 2008More and more people are turning to non-lethal tools and weapons to protect themselves from attackers.
In the past, only the police or military were able to obtain some of these weapons, including stun guns and tasers. However, these weapons have become available to the public, as well, and they are being used by law enforcement and private citizens as well.
The story below just took place in Texas. It is a true story and definitely saved one life, possibly more.
More Law Officers Rely on Less-Lethal Weapons
Saturday, November 08, 2008
A man trespassing in a vacant apartment in January pulled a knife and lunged at a Longview police officer trying to identify him.
Without hesitation, a back-up officer fired her stun gun at the attacker, delivering a debilitating electric jolt.
Her quick action most likely prevented a serious injury to either the officer or the suspect, and it might have even saved a life, police spokesman Kevin Brownlee said.
The so-called “less-lethal weapons” - ranging from empty hands and pepper spray to stun guns and expandable batons - give officers a safer way of debilitating dangerous or threatening suspects, law enforcement officials say.
If you are looking for a way to protect yourself, a taser or stun gun is an effective, affordable and non-lethal choice.
No Civilian Tasers in New Zealand
Thursday, October 9th, 2008Tasers have become quite well-known and quite available in the United States. It was just a few years ago when we heard about them but had a hard time finding them. If you looked really hard, you could find them in special law enforcement catalogues and such.
These days, tasers are available to the public and are legal in 43 states. Many women are getting the pocket sized C2 Taser that will fit in their purse, for protection, and they feel safer because they have a reliable self-defense tool.
One of the new events surrounding tasers is a remake of the old Tupperware parties. Instead of Tupperware, women are having Taser parties and buying tasers for protection. Men are buying them for themselves and also buying them as gifts for their wives and girlfriends.
In the U.S., regardless of our problems, there are options. People can choose what type of protection they use and they can carry it without penalty as long as it is registered and used correctly.
Other countries do not have that luxury. For instance, in New Zealand, the police have just recently started using tasers and it is illegal for a private citizen to carry any type of taser. Inspector Joe Green the police national manager of firearms licensing and vetting has stated, “They are restricted weapons. If we found you on the street with one, we would arrest you for the unlawful possession of a restricted weapon.”
So, no matter what problems there are to deal with here in the U.S., there is still the freedom to bear arms and to choose what type of arms you wish to use. Being able to choose the non-lethal Taser rather than a lethal weapon is important. If you are looking for a non-lethal weapon that will stop an attacker in their tracks, check into a C2 Taser or other type of taser and choose to protect yourself your way.
Police Use Taser to Catch Rapist
Sunday, September 28th, 2008Tasers are being used by law enforcement as well as private citizens instead of guns these days. They aren’t used by everyone, but citizens and police have seen how much safer tasers are in subduing an intruder or attacker than using a gun with bullets in it. Guns can all too often be fatal, or at least lead to serious injuries, whereas, tasers are rarely fatal and usually don’t lead to injuries, but they are extremely effective.
The following is a story from the Sun Sentinel in Broward County, Florida regarding the use of a taser to catch a dangerous suspect who was wanted by the police in other states.
DAVIE - Police used a Taser gun on a suspected rapist when he resisted arrest this morning, a police spokesman said.
The incident occurred about 10 a.m., at a gas station in the 3600 block of Davie Road, spokesman Lt. Wayne Boulier said.
Police officers, working with the FBI, received word that suspect Carlos Colon, 37 — wanted on a sexual battery warrant in New York — was in the area.
Colon, of Davie, ran when they tried to arrest him, so they shot him with a Taser, Boulier said.
South Florida Crime & Safety Paramedics took Colon to a hospital to be examined, a routine procedure any time someone is shot with a stun gun, Boulier said.
Colon was to be taken to the county jail once he’s cleared.
Authorities in Syracuse, N.Y., issued the arrest warrant for multiple counts of sexual battery, Boulier said.
Had this taken place with a gun instead of a taser, one can imagine the injuries and other complications. Instead, the man was captured and taken into custody.
The taser can work for private citizens as well and there are many types available. If you are looking for effective, affordable, reliable protection, look at our selection of tasers to see which one is best for you.
Compare Tasers and Stun Guns Before You Buy
Friday, September 26th, 2008We are hearing about the use of tasers and stun guns by the police and private citizens more and more lately. When used properly they can catch the bad guys and help innocent people stay safe.
Many police and sheriff departments are using tasers instead of guns whenever possible, to avoid fatalities. Along with the tasers or stun guns, the officers receive specific training as to how to use their weapons as safely as possible while still being effective at apprehending lawbreakers.
It is important for private citizens to learn how to use tasers and stun guns appropriately, as well. If you purchase one of these self defense weapons, it is essential for you to remember that tasers and stun guns are WEAPONS and are serious. Even though they are designed to avoid fatalities, there can be complications if they are not used properly.
There are various types, sizes and voltages involved with tasers and stun guns, depending upon your needs. There are also disguises for them, such as the Cell Phone Stun Gun, which works exactly like any other stun gun and sends a powerful jolt through an intruder or attacker, yet looks like a cell phone, so the attacker would never realize they are about to be shocked and stopped in their tracks, leaving you a safe way to escape.
Check this site for a variety of stun guns, tasers and information regarding their use and the laws involving them. It is important to get the best weapon possible for the best price, and you can do that here. Before purchasing a stun gun or taser look carefully at the information and see which one is best for you. Find an affordable, high quality, effective taser or stun gun to keep you and your family safe.
Tasers, Tasers and More Tasers
Thursday, September 18th, 2008If you are wondering whether or not tasers are effective self defense weapons, all you need to do is look at the news or the internet. In looking at the headlines and articles listed on Google alone, there are pages and pages of examples of taser use.
Most police departments and other law enforcement agencies are using tasers in lieu of guns wherever possible. Private citizens are using tasers to protect themselves as well.
In reading the articles posted on the net today, at least 9 or 10 of them were about police using tasers to subdue and/or arrest burglars, armed robbers, drug dealers, escaped convicts and individuals with warrants. Most of these individuals were being aggressive to the police or were running from the police and were stopped and then arrested because the taser disoriented them enough so that they could not keep running from or attacking the police.
The positive thing about tasers is that they deliver enough voltage to override the person’s ability to escape, but they are non-lethal. Instead of injuring the bad guys and landing them in the hospital or killing them, the police were able to stop them, avoiding hospital stays or a funeral. In addition, the individuals who were captured can now go to court and be held responsible for their crimes.
So, if you are wondering if tasers work, they do. They will protect you, even in the most serious situations. There are various tasers available. Take the time to explore them and find the one that is right for you.
Tasers Will Be Used Extensively By Officers in the UK
Wednesday, September 17th, 2008Reprinted from Times Online UK News
Taser adds shock and awe to every bobby’s arsenal
All frontline officers are to be given access to 50,000-volt stun guns. FRONTLINE police officers across the country are to go on patrol armed with the controversial Taser stun gun under plans to be announced by ministers later this year.
A stockpile of the weapons, which fire a 50,000-volt charge, will be kept at each police station so that patrolling officers can use them if required, Whitehall officials said.
They will be used to confront and disable suspects who threaten violence, whether suspected suicide bombers or aggressive drunken yobs.
Jacqui Smith, the home secretary, believes using Tasers on thugs and violent criminals will help to protect officers from injury. She also believes the stun guns will save resources, because in future fewer officers will need to be deployed to deal with individual incidents.
This weekend, she said: “Taser is making a real difference on our streets, not only keeping the public safe but also protecting our police officers. I am committed to giving our police the weapons they need to get crime off our streets.”
Although details have not been finalised, the stun guns are expected to be made available to each of the 43 police forces in England and Wales by the end of the year, officials say.
The move has met opposition from civil liberties groups, which say they should be used by only specialist firearms officers in limited circumstances.
The Taser is a hand-held electrical device resembling a pistol that is designed to incapacitate temporarily rather than injure. The latest version – the X26 – has a range of 21ft. It fires a pair of barbs on copper wires that embed themselves in the flesh and send out an electrical current of 50,000 volts. The shock can cause temporary loss of muscle control, making a person fall to the ground or “freeze” on the spot.
Police officers believe it is a valuable alternative to hitting people with a baton or the extreme measure of shooting them. In many cases, it enables just one or two officers to restrain and handcuff a suspect without the risk of injury.
Tasers were first issued to trained firearms officers in 2003 after a number of fatal police shootings. Since then they have been drawn 2,700 times but fired only 834 times. In most cases merely drawing the gun and aiming its red target dot on a suspect’s body acted as a sufficient deterrent.
Figures released under the Freedom of Information Act show Tasers have been used in a range of cases, from a suspect brandishing a samurai sword in Norfolk to a man who tried to strangle a police dog in Kent.
Smith has been impressed by pilot schemes in 10 forces that allow regular officers to fire them. Officially the Home Office said it was awaiting the evaluation of the trials, which ended two weeks ago. Her plans are backed by the Police Federation, which represents all 140,000 rank and file officers in England and Wales
No More Moats at the Castle
Sunday, September 7th, 2008
A Man’s Home is his Castle, and now thanks to the new law going into effect on Tuesday called the Castle Doctrine he can protect it more fully.
The Castle Doctrine States:
The language in Senate Bill 184, which takes effect Tuesday, Sept. 9, states that the law known as the “Castle Doctrine” will “create a rebuttable presumption that a person acted in self defense or defense of another when using defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another if the person against whom the defensive force is used is in the process of entering or has entered, unlawfully and without privilege to do so, the residence or vehicle occupied by the person using the defensive force.”
While many critics are concerned that this law will become more of an excuse than a viable justification there are still many options besides lethal force.
We all feel obligated to defend our families and ourselves, we also have the right to choose how much force we employ. There are several discreet and temporarily disabling self defense tools that will allow you time to usher your family to safety and call the police.
Tasers, Stun Guns, Mace and Animal Repellents are all excellent alternatives to lethal force. It is a personal decision but it merits reflecting on an age old question; Does the end justify the means?
Non Lethal Tasers: Self Defense That Works
Saturday, August 16th, 2008Even in the quiet and semi- crime free neighborhoods of the suburbs, crime happens. With the incidence of crime continuing to rise, especially as the economy continues to be a problem, crime gets worse every day.
If you are a middle-aged woman who lives alone in the suburbs, you could be especially vulnerable because burglars often look for quiet, comfortable neighborhoods to find valuable that they can steal. After all, most middle class areas have homes filled with electronics that are worth money. They usually have jewelry and other valuables, as well.
If you are home during the day, most of your neighbors are probably out working, so the neighborhood has few, if any, people out.
On an average day, you go out to walk your dog around 2:00 P.M. Today, when you walking out of your driveway, you spot a man a couple of houses down and you haven’t seen him in the neighborhood before. You decide to walk in the opposite direction. When you return home, you literally run into this man leaving your house through the back door. It would be impossible to out run him or to successfully fight him.
This scene is played out hundreds of times per day around the country. Sometimes the situation ends well and others, it does not.
There is an effective, non-lethal weapon that will help get you out of the situation safely. The C-2 Taser will protect you without killing an attacker.
The C2 Taser delivers a high voltage shock to a burglar, robber, mugger or other would-be attacker. This immobilizes the attacker by stunning the person’s neuro-muscular system, giving you time to get away to safety.
The C2 Taser is one of the highest selling self defense tools available today. It is compact enough to fit in your purse or pocket. Whether you are taking a quick walk to the mailbox, walking the dog, gardening in the back yard or simply inside your home cleaning or watching TV, the C2 Taser can protect you. It has made the different for thousands upon thousands of purchasers.
Since self defense is so important, we ask you to take the time to find out what protection is available and how it would work for you Take a close look at the C2 Taser as an important part of your safety.
Protecting Yourself with the C2 Taser
Saturday, August 2nd, 2008As if rising gas and food prices and taxes aren’t enough to worry about, self defense and protection have become a priority for the majority of people because of the rise in crime and personal attacks.
Not only does the news relay story after story about attacks, but even when you are watching another program, there are bulletins and special reports that break in and update you about this problem. There have been several stories lately regarding muggings of older people in various cities. This is not necessarily a new thing, but attacks have become more aggressive and violent recently.
People want to feel safe. How can that feeling be achieved? There are various ways to deal with the issue of protection, however, many people do not want to use weapons such as guns or knives to protect themselves.
There is a product available that will protect you in a reliable and affordable way. The product is called the C2 Taser and it is a powerful and effective tool to help keep you save. The C2 Taser will immobilize an attacker and keep them from being able to harm you. At the same time, you will have time to get away to safety.
The C2 Taser is one of the most popular tasers available today. It is safe for the average person to use and both women and men have been purchasing and using the C2 Taser.
According to Nick Sandullo, a taser instructor for the Evansville Police Department, training is essential. If you know how to use the taser properly, it will be a trusted tool. Officer Sandullo states that it is important to learn to use this tool as you would learn to use any weapon. He says that the taser “creates distance. It gets you away so that you can get to safety.”
If you are trying to find a protection tool that is easy to use, small enough to fit into your pocket or purse and is safe for you to use, the C2 Taser is the tool that can get the job done.
Tasers Can Stop Crime in its Tracks
Sunday, July 27th, 2008When you watch TV, it seems that the news is as dramatic as the most action films. In fact, in the past few days I have seen videos of several attacks on people in various cities bothe in the United States and abroad.
With crime at an all-time high, protection is on the minds of most people. A big part of the protection issue for many people is that they want a form of protection that will subdue would be attackers without killing them. People are looking for alternatives to a gun. One of the best alternatives to guns and other weapons is the Taser.
Tasers basically deliver thousands of volts of power to an attacker. This overrides the central nervous system debilitating the attacker. The attacker is incapacitated long enough for the victim to get away and get help.
In addition to providing protection for individuals by stopping an attacker, tasers leave behind Anti-Felon Identification Tags that are dispersed once the taser discharges its cartridges. This helps the police determine the owner of the Taser and helps keep it from falling into the wrong hands. Background checks and registration are required with purchase of tasers, ensuring them from being purchased by individuals on either felony watch or terrorist watch lists.
Tasers, also known as Taser Guns are a good alternative to guns that shoot bullets and can be fatal. Most local police or other law enforcement departments provide free training in conjunction with taser companies.
To stop crime in its tracks, a taser is one of the best tools you can have.
Tasers Don’t Have to Be Mistaken For Guns!
Friday, May 2nd, 2008
There are several ways to ensure that your taser is not mistaken for a real gun. Many of todays most effective and non-lethal self defense products come in color. Color is an immediate clue even from far away that you are not using an actual gun. By choosing your self defense product wisely, you can avoid becoming a statistic. The followinf sotry was reported by Channel 27 in Kentucky.
