Protect yourself in the Street with Instructional DVD’s

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

If you are looking for a self defense product with a difference then why not try out instructional combat DVD’s? Designed to teach you how to fight back if needed, instructional DVD’s can be extremely effective at preventing attacks and theft in the street.

DVD-SAFE

How are Instructional DVD’s Helpful?

Many people do not even consider instructional DVD’s because they feel that they will be a waste of time. Preferring instead to attend actual classes, people do often think that DVD’s are a waste of time. However, what if you don’t have the time to attend a martial arts class?

DVD-BODYGUARD

Instructional DVD’s give you the convenience of teaching you self defense techniques within your own home. You can learn at your own time and you will learn everything you need to know about protecting yourself while you are out and about in the street.

DVD-CAMP

Another advantage to instructional DVDs is that you can learn more than one type of self defense. There is a wide range of techniques to choose from including:

  • American Combat Karate
  • Unarmed Combat Course
  • Secrets of Gun, Knife Disarmament
  • Advanced Combative Tactics

Out of the above the Secrets of Gun, Knife Disarmament is probably one of the most informative DVDs that you can purchase for self defense. Gun and knife crime is common in many areas throughout America. When you are attacked with a knife or a gun it can be potentially fatal and often people just do not know how to protect themselves against such weapons. With this DVD you will learn how to disarm an attacker who comes at you with a gun or a knife and that will obviously help you to protect yourself in the street. Not only is it helpful, it is also potentially lifesaving.

Another really useful instructional self defense DVD is the Unarmed Combat Course. This DVD teaches you how to fight without weapons. It will show you the best techniques to use when you are being attacked and when you need to use any means necessary to protect both you and your family. Combining different self defense techniques, this DVD is unique and it will teach you how to protect yourself even in the most violent of situations. What you need to remember is that when you are being attacked, it is likely that your attacker will do anything to hurt you. It is their intention to hurt you and so you need to know exactly how to protect yourself no matter what your attacker throws at you.

One worry that you may have is how do you protect yourself against an attacker who has advanced karate or martial arts skills? Luckily the “Street Sage I” DVD is there to help. It will teach you everything that you need to know about taking down an attacker who has an obvious advantage over you. Whether they are a thug, a martial arts expert or a trained boxer, you will learn exactly how to defend yourself with this DVD.
Overall instructional DVDs may not be the obvious choice when it comes to self defense. However, they can be extremely useful and there are some really exceptional ones available. So why not check out our range of fantastic self defense DVD’s and start learning how to protect yourself against even the toughest of attackers?

Pepper Pen Foils ATM Attack

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

I recently heard a true story about a woman who had been attacked while trying to get money out of an ATM machine in her suburban neighborhood. She was on an evening walk and she had no qualms about walking a few blocks to the bank, getting some cash, stopping at the local 7/11 store and going home.

It was dusk, not dark, and she never noticed anyone near her or behind her. She had the habit of keeping her eyes open just in case, but her neighborhood was so quiet, she wasn’t really on guard. In addition, she had never had any problems and she made this short journey at least once a week.

She approached the ATM machine and was punching in her pin number when someone grabbed her shoulder and told her to empty her bank account. Of course, she was startled and started to jerk away and scream, throwing the attacker off. In addition, she had a Pepper Pen in her other hand. Before the attacker could get her under control, she released the pepper spray into the attacker’s face, slamming his eyes shut and sending him into a disoriented coughing fit.

She was able to grab her ATM card, run screaming for help and have the attacker arrested.

It is not a coincidence that she had the pepper pen. Her husband had been looking for a home monitor and other safety weapons and came across the pen. He purchased it for her because he wanted her to have the freedom to go on her walks that she enjoyed so much, but he worried that she wouldn’t be safe. He figured she would never have to use it, but he was glad she had it just in case.

Once the ordeal was over, the woman stated that she would never be without the Pepper Pen again and her husband said that he was going to purchase a few other self defense tools, such as a Cell Phone Stun Gun.

Do not become a victim! Plan in advance and do what some people have done. Get your self defense tools and keep them ready to use “just in case.” They could make a huge difference in the outcome of an attack.

Blow The Whistle on Crime

electronic whistle

Mae West once remarked, that it was easy to whistle , you just put your lips together and blow. This is great advice under normal circumstances when no pressure is involved.

Imagine your car is in a parking garage and it is late at night. You begin schlepping to your car and suddenly hear footsteps behind you. You walk a bit faster and you can hear the pace of the footsteps quicken. Off to the right you see a man and a woman walking to their car. You try to whistle but it is not loud enough to draw attention. As the attacker catches up to you the couple disappear from sight.

This is a frightening scenario, but one that happens all too often. Protection involves being prepared and staying free from harm. All things being perfect you could walk down the street any time of day or night without worrying about impending harm.

At this moment crime rates are on the rise and there is not a solution on the horizon. Although we can’t wipe our crime entirely we can lower the incident rate by taking precautions and using self defense tools to protect ourselves.

The electronic pocket whistle is just such a tool. The electronic whistle will scream for attention when you can’t. This handy life saving whistle emits a loud 120db whistle for as long as you push the button. Useful in sporting events, a locator in emergencies (earthquakes, collapsed buildings), referee whistle, traffic whistle for police, military training, dog handling and as a safety alarm for crime prevention. 4 inches long.

ATM Security

ATM cash machines have been incorporated in our way of life. They offer a real convenience to those on the run, but at the same time offer an element of risk. Using an ATM machine safely requires awareness and a little planning. Just because an ATM machine is open and available twenty four hours a day does not mean that it is safe to use it.

Most ATM robberies occur at night between the hours of 8PM to midnight. ATM robbers are usually males under the age of 25 years of age and most work alone. ATM robbers usually position themselves nearby waiting for a victim to approach and withdraw cash. Most ATM robbery victims are women and were alone when robbed.

Most claim that they never saw the robber coming. Most ATM robbers used a gun or claimed to have a concealed weapon when
confronting the victim and demanding cash. If you or your family members use the ATM cash machine on a regular basis, here are some tips that can make the process safer:

• Carry a stun gun, pepper spray, pepper gun, or mace spray
• Use only ATM machines that are in a well lit area with high traffic areas. Don’t use ATM machines that are remote or hidden such as being located behind a building, behind pillars, walls or away from the public view.
• Choose an ATM machine that looks and feels safer, even if it is a couple of miles out of your way. Try and limit your use to daylight hours. Take someone with you after hours, if you can. When you drive up to an ATM location, scan the area for any suspicious persons. If you see anyone suspicious standing nearby or sitting in a car, drive away. When you approach an ATM on foot be prepared and have your access card ready. Memorize your personal PIN number to prevent loss and speed the transaction. Never accept help from a suspicious male ahead of you at the machine.
• If you use your car, at a drive thru ATM machine the same rules apply. Keep the car in gear, with your foot firmly on the brake, while using the ATM machine. Keep a close eye on your rear and side view mirrors during the transaction. Robbers almost always approach from the rear on the driver’s side. If you see anyone approaching, drive off robber, just give up your money without argument.
• Avoid ATM machines adjacent to obvious hiding places
• Have your card ready and leave quickly, not counting your cash in public
• Beware of offers for help from strangers during an ATM transaction
• Don’t fight with or attempt to follow the robber
• Drive or walk to a safe place and immediately call the police
• If you are confronted by an armed robber, use your pepper spray, mace or pepper gun to defend yourself. The other option is to give the money to the robber and get out of there as quickly as possible.

Benefits of high-tech home security devices

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

Men may be eons away from the barbaric way of life they used to but this doesn’t mean they have to be complacent about their security. The world has become modern and its people more civil but danger still lies in almost every home in America today.

Security is one of the top concerns of most households today no matter where they live. Any one who would take a look at the crime statistics today would have sleepless nights thinking about how vulnerable he and his family can be to criminal acts.

This has not always been the case with American society. There were days when a family could sleep peacefully even without a gate surrounding their abode. Those were the days when a trusted old dog could be relied on to do the trick of scaring away possible thieves.

Today is a different story. The economic hardship being experienced by almost anyone is taking its toll on society and is paving the way for high crime incidents in almost every neighborhood.

During these times, every family will be better off with good, if not high technology security devices. Anyone who is concerned about the safety of his family and his property should invest in a high tech home security system to keep them safe and to keep possible criminals off their yards and out off their lives.

Some people don’t think of investing in high tech security devices until such a time when their privacy and safety has already been attempted upon. Most people will only think of these safety devices when a neighbor has been victimized by a burglar or a close friend has become a victim of a crime.

Everyone should be proactive in these matters and look for ways to deter criminals from committing their plans. These people will scout for homes that look unprotected inside and out and they will target that vulnerability. It is always better to be prepared and safe rather than to scrimp on home security devices and regret and suffer the consequences later on.

Singles who live alone and who don’t have much property can rely on their own karate skills or perhaps the good old bolt and dog to ward of criminals. Criminals wouldn’t be interested in scouting their land if it appears that there isn’t much to be taken away, except of course if the intention is to harm the dweller.

It is a different story for people who have children and who have valuable property inside their homes. Nothing should be spared when it comes to the wellbeing and safety of the family so it is most often the family man who would take time to install such safety security devices in his home.

However, singles or families who live in an area known for the not-so-good peace and order condition should really invest in security devices. It may be quite expensive but if it means being able to sleep well at night then no costs should be spared.

Here are some great tips to keep in mind when you are going to be using an ATM machine to get some cash…

ATM SECURITY

ATM cash machines have been incorporated in our way of life. They offer a real convenience to those on the run but at the same time offer an element of risk. Using an ATM machine safely requires awareness and a little planning. Just because an ATM machine is open and available 24-hours a day doesn’t mean it is safe to use it. Most ATM robberies occur at night between 8:00 PM and midnight. ATM robbers are usually males under 25 years of age and most work alone. ATM robbers usually position themselves nearby waiting for a victim to approach and withdraw cash. Most ATM robbery victims are women and were alone when robbed. Most claim that they never saw the robber coming. Most ATM robbers used a gun or claimed to have a concealed weapon when confronting the victim and demanding their cash.

If you or your family members use ATM cash machines on a regular basis, here are some tips that can make the process a little safer:

• Use only ATM machines in well-lighted, high-traffic areas. Don’t use ATM machines that are remote or hidden such as being located behind buildings, behind pillars, walls, or away from public view. Beware of obvious hiding places like shrubbery or overgrown trees. ATM robbers like to have the element of surprise and no witnesses. Robbers like good escape routes like nearby freeway on-ramps or high speed thoroughfares.

• Choose an ATM that looks and ‘feels’ safer, even if it is a couple of miles out of the way. After inserting your card and your PIN number keep an eye out behind you. Never accept an offer to help or request for help from a suspicious male ahead of you at the machine. If anyone suspicious or seemingly dangerous approaches terminate your transaction and leave immediately, even if it means running away and leaving your ATM card in the machine. First, tell the suspicious male in a loud, firm voice to “back-off” and leave you alone. This is designed to startle the person and give you time to flee, if appropriate. When you receive cash from the machine put it away immediately, extract your card, and walk away.

• If you use your car at a drive-thru ATM machine the same rules apply. Keep the car in gear, with your foot firmly on the brake, while using the ATM machine. Keep a close eye on your rear and side view mirrors during the transaction. Robbers almost always approach from the rear on the drivers side. If you see anyone approaching, drive off even if it means leaving your ATM card behind. If you are confronted by an armed robber, just give up your money without argument. The cash is not worth serious injury or death. Get to a safe place and call the police immediately.

• If lights around the ATM are not working, don’t use that machine.

• Avoid ATM machines adjacent to obvious hiding places.

• Have your card ready and leave quickly, not counting your cash in public.

• Beware of offers for help from strangers during an ATM transaction.

• Don’t fight with or attempt to follow the robber.

• Drive or walk to a safe place and immediately call the police.
